What ^ Said.

And if you're asking about anime in 4K resolution, you'll probably have to wait about 10 years.

As far as I know, current TV anime is produced in 720p
Only older film-shot stuff would gain from 4K. It would have to be remastered from the original negatives, which will not have been well looked after.

Anime movies are made at a higher resoultion. Probably not as high as 4K though. Again, older film productions could be re-scanned for 4K restoration as long as the elements are still in good condition.

In other words, anime in 4K: probably not gonna happen.

........

Edit:

I just reread the OP, looks like I misunderstood!

I think you're asking if any 4K TVs have a Cruchyroll app built-in. Sorry, I don't know.

I didn't mean it'll never ever happen. I wrote that post between frames of Wii bowling while being yelled at by children, so I missed my own point a little bit...

I think most people might end up skipping 4K. It depends how often a person buys a new TV, but if they got a new one in the last year or two, they probably won't buy another until 8K comes out.

Studios keep producing anime in 720 because it doesn't look all that different from 1080. The jump to 4K or higher is much more pronounced. They'll keep mastering at the lowest resolutions they can to save money, but when ultra high def becomes the standard, they'll have to work at higher resolutions because 720 will look pretty rough on those screens.

One thing's for sure, when it does come (and it will... eventually,) ultra high def anime will be eye-meltingly beautiful.

The fun of working in the TV department,

I've loaded the app ( and my acct ) on both the 1080 and the 4k tvs'. the 4k is much better looking ,sharper color . We just got in the OLED and i can't wait till its slow enough to check it out on that

If only Crunchy gave me comish on accts, i know alot of people have started accounts becouse they seen it playing in the store

I don't fully understand your question. But I'm assuming that you're asking if they have a 4K app for 4K TV's. If that being the case then I'd like to say it depends, it's available on some TV's but not others (i.e Samsung and Panasonic... I think). Anyhow, if you buy a TV from a brand that already have it then it doesn't require a new app. Infact, CR doesn't support 4K as of right now so you'll get to steam CR's content upscaled to 4K.

Also, 4K is just the amount of pixels in the monitor/TV.

Depends, if you have a screen really really really close to your eyes (i.e tablet's and smartphones) then yes, you'll need a higher resolution to see better due to the fact that the pixels are closer to your eyes. And as such you need a higher resolution not to notice the pixels. However, if you've got a normal sized TV then I'd say it's not worth the investment.

However, if you've got a massive screen then I'd say 4K is worth it.
