紀伊国屋書店はSydneyに支店がある。都合が悪かったら、onlineでも出来る。でも、同じ値段だかもしれない。

I've been to books Kinokuniya before and their prices are reasonable for new books. However, I prefer to buy used manga from Book Off because I save a lot of money that way. Plus, some of the used manga is in as goo of shape as the new manga books! I don't think there is a Book Off in Australia though My only advice is that it would be cheaper to buy books from your local Japanese book store than online straight from Japan because international shipping costs are expensive.

When you first said "Calpis" I was like "what is that?" Then when I searched for it, I found out that it is also called Calpico and I was like "Ohh!" I've seen that drink Calpico in some of the local Asian Supermarkets, but I've never tried it before. Thanks for mentioning it though!

I spent too much at Kinokuniya this week. Some CDs, some manga, another grammar book, and an art book.

I'll try and post some picks later. Lately, I've been focusing on my favorite series, Space Battleship Yamato. I've loved the reboot. So the manga and art book were for that. The CD's were for the first season of Aldnoah/Zero, and Okamoto's theme song for Durarara!! season 2.

The artbook is my favorite. As an engineer and a long time SBY fan, seeing the cutouts and mechanical drawings of the Yamato puts a big grin on my face.

That sounds really great! I also liked Aldnoah/Zero! Did you watch both seasons? Let me know how you liked the CDs Ditto-san! Also, looking forward to the pictures you'll post~! Too bad I never watched Space Battleship Yamato (isn't that from the 80s?) Also, I never checked out Durarara, is it any good?

It's one of my faves nowadays.

Not a fan of Calpis, though. I'm more of a canned coffee fan. The Koiwai stuff is great, if you're in Japan.

I love Durarara!!, both seasons. The music, especially the OPs are great. The series is written by Ryōgo Narita, who is also well known for Baccano! The newest OP is from OKAMOTO's. I'd best describe them as garage rock, which I really like. :D

Be prepared: there are a lot of characters in Durarara!! In the first season, at least, each episode is narrated from a different character's point of view. It takes a while to see how everything starts to fit together, but when it does... you are in for an interesting storytelling ride. Plus, characters like the bartender with super-strength give the show an outrageous sense of charm. Give the show a shot when you get the chance. :D

I also really liked A/Z. It's a fun space opera with a central love triangle. The music, however, is spectacular. Then again, I can't think of anything that Sawano Hiroyuki has done that isn't great. Aside from A/Z, he's scored Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, Blue Exorcist, and Guilty Crown to name a few.

SBY is my all time favorite show. It got me into anime when I was a kid. Yes, I know that was a long time ago. You can find the original show on Hulu, but I'd recommend you try the reboot, Space Battleship Yamato 2199. Unfortunately, it isn't legally available for streaming. This is the perfect example of a reboot done right. They fixed some story lines, trimmed some filler, improved the science, added some great characters, and kept all the best parts, such as the music. I love the reboot. SBY is one of the big, classic franchises.

That sounds awesome! I added Durarara to my queue- there are so many episodes in season 1 and season 2! I hope I get the change to watch that show (I already ma watching so many shows currently! ) Thanks for telling me about this show Ditto-san! I've heard about it before but never gave it much thought

I know! I loved the aspect of the love triangle in A/Z, but I was kinda disappointed that in the end
Yeah the music was really what made certain space fight scenes in that show completely epic! Speaking about Kill la Kill, I'm currently watching the English Dub on Toonami, is anyone else watching it on Toonami? That show is...quite interesting. Let's just say I'd never cosplay as Ryuuko! Haha

That's pretty cool Ditto-san. For me, the 1998 version of Sailor Moon on Cartoon Network is what got me into anime! I love it how we're totally reminiscing about anime right now! Speaking about the good old days of anime, did you ever watch anime from the early 2000s like :The Big O, FLCL, Cardcaptors, and Yu-Gi-Oh!? Those are some of my favorite anime from the 2000s. I know this is completely off topic and not even an anime, but when I was little, I really enjoyed watching the cartoon called Jackie Chan Adventures! Jackie Chan is just awesome! Has anyone else watched that cartoon?

As promised, I've uploaded a couple of pictures of my "haul" from Kinokunia. :D

The artbook features cutouts, plans, character studies, art, and an interview. The engineer in me loves the cutouts. Here's one of them:

As for the anime discussion, I agree about A/Z. And while I like lots of things about Kill la Kill, the fanservice is a bit too much for me. And yes, I've seen FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, most of the Big O, and a number of other shows from that era. I tend to pass over typical shonen series and have for a while. I like shorter and more unique series since I don't have much free time anymore.

I've watched a number of Jackie Chan movies, but never the animated series. I bet that was pretty funny.

Wow ditto-san! Thank you so much for uploading these pictures!!! I always enjoy seeing pictures like this of books and other various merchandise! I think that Basic Connections books looks interesting as well of that in-depth diagram of that spaceship! That's pretty cool how they went so in-detail with their design of the spaceship!

Also, I definitely agree about the over-the-top fan service in Kill la Kill But I'm really glad you're familiar with and have seen those shows I've mentioned. Too bad you missed out on Jackie Chan Adventures, as it was a funny show Also, me too! I really like shorter series with an intriguing plot, like Death Parade, Nagi no Asukara, Samurai Flamenco (especially since this show was like a parody of superhero anime), etc.

That's some awesome haul (-‿‿-) I'm not an engineer but that cutout is also fantastic.

Fanservice aside, I quite enjoyed Kill la Kill, actually way more than I could've expected.
I recall the fact of seeing that Jackie Chan cartoon but that's just about it - I only remember that such thing existed.

And dang it, it's been 2 weeks since my manga from CDJapan arrived and I haven't bragged about it even once (⇀‸↼‶) It's time to change it. I mean, once I get back home and photograph the whole of it - I've taken only two volumes with me and my cameras suck.
