What was your opinion on the endless eight? I didn't think it was too horrible and I did watch them but I certainly didn't find them enjoyable.

I watched all of it. I found it grating at first but actually grew to enjoy the very subtle differences between each episode.

I can't remember... I believe I dropped Haruhi S2 after 3 episodes of Endless Eight. didn't watch anything after that except the movie, which was amazing.

the endless eight is one of the most intelligent and yet boring arcs in any anime....

the point of the endless eight was for the viewer to understand how Yuki Nagato felt, you were going crazy watching 8 episodes, yet she experienced that more than 1000 times

all this was important in order to watch the movie, because you can now understand her... you already know why she did what she did, you know how she felt...

IMO the endless eight is boring, yes a waste of time, yet it gives you a better experience if you want to watch the movie, but that's just me.

Well I didn't watch Haruhi until a year and a half ago. I actually watched the endless eight for about 2-3 episodes then I got bored and decided to look at an episode guide. I didn't even know it was an endless eight until I saw it on the guide. So I basically skipped all the way to the last episode of the endless eight to avoid any more of my patience wearing out.

It was well done, a good insight, but hell yeah it was really boring, watched about five.

I watched them all, and was paying attention to catch any differences, but I wasn't disappointed with how it went. I wouldn't want to watch all eight of them again, but I thought the idea was pretty cool. I love groundhog day loops in general, and this was the first time I'd come across something that really exhibited the tedium of the whole setup.

Honestly, to me, it was basically just part of the series. I didn't have a strong reaction to it, but I appreciated it as much as I did the rest of the show, which I quite liked overall.

I watched all of them (at least twice now, in fact), but still think it was an interesting idea way way overdone to the point of being ridiculous. The generally negative reaction many people had is completely understandable. Repeating it maybe up to three times would have been more than sufficient to get the point across.

I, too, watched them all and found it to be a rather interesting experience.

Thankfully, I didn't watch it weekly. I marathoned them over a weekend after season 2 had aired. I don't think I could have handled seeing the same thing each week.

However, marathoning it allowed me to catch the subtle differences and also allowed me to fully grasp the weight of what was going on. I could understand that they were trying to do something with this, and when it was finally revealed it made the whole experience feel immensely rewarding.

That being said, it did get somewhat tedious at parts. I suppose that's why it took a weekend rather than a single day lol.

I watched all of them, at first I didn't know they were "the endless eight" the first few I thought I had just repeated the same episodes until I stared noticing small differences and I believe at 4 or 5 Kyon mentions something about how this feels like it has all happened already

I watched all of them. Was really annoying because i watched it when it was just coming out. The visuals being different every episode was nice, but the dialogue being almost the same made me skip around a bit. I was seriously thinking as the episodes progressed "Wait, they're not really going to do this episode 8 times, are they? That'd be stupid." to "Holy crap, they really are gonna do it. Is this the fourth one or the seventh one? Season better not end on this."

My favorite movie ever made.

I remember being in a Best Buy (probably in 2012) with a $25 gift card and seeing the DVD of it for $20. I've been kicking myself for quite some time for not buying it. Aside from missing my chance to see it (legally), if you check the used prices on it, you'll see why.

Back on the topic, I actually had to view Endless 8 twice. It came out back in the days when I was still watching fansubs, so when it was available legitimately on CR, I felt obligated to view it again. I can't say it was an enjoyable experience, although with the second viewing, I spent more time concentrating on the visual differences.

DVD is on amazon for $25... BD/DVD combo is $150... did they even release it on BD? I never saw it...

I got through like 5 of them, got fed up then watched 8. I think it was pretty pointless. I feel like they could have easily made their point with 3-4 episodes top- first time loop, the realization of the time loop, almost escaping and escaping. Episodes 3-7 were really no different other than a few minor changes here and there. I dropped S2 after the arc, although I might one day finally pick it back up. My problem with the show in general is that it is all over the place in terms of episode ordering, which is a shame because the characters are so good.
