Nick Fury = Samuel "Mother Father" Jackson

Nick Fury looked different before Samuel Jackson got the role. He nailed it despite his looks.

The Nick Fury from the films is based on the Nick Fury from the Ultimate Universe, not the normal Marvel Universe Nick Fury. Who did they model the Ultimate Universe Nick Fury on? Samuel L. Jackson. First appeared in that form in the 2002 "Ultimates" series, which was the Ultimate Universes' version of the Avengers.

Relatedly - the Ultimate Universe is excellently written and more fun at times than the standard Marvel universe. They actually killed the original Ultimate Spiderman, the current one is Black Hispanic boy named Miles Morales. But seriously, the first run of Ultimate X-Men and the Ultimates are awesome.

Just for some historic reference

which proves my point. Nick fury is based on Samuel Jackson, not the other way around. It is an exception to finding an actor who fits the image. quite the opposite. would an actor who nailed Pixis personality really have to lack hair?

I get your point. I'm just saying, Jackson was cast as Nick Fury in the movie years after the redesign happened in 2002.

From the first moment I saw him, I've always felt that the actor who plays Duke Crocker on Haven would make a suspiciously good Portgas D. Ace if One Piece ever had a Hollywood adaption, haha.
