It may be too much to ask, requiring a real Japanese language expert (at least near native fluency) to make it meaningful and accurate, and probably take a bit of effort, but if it were somehow possible, it'd be nice if with the word of the day an example sentence or two was available which shows how the word is actually used.

Google Translate until recently actually had such a function (and if it's still there, but hidden or whatever-- someone let me know!). When one types a word, it gives its meaning or translation, as well as some synonyms or related terms. In the past, there was also a button one could push, and it would give actual sentences containing the word which were culled from various contemporary Japanese blogs, websites, newspapers etc... The sentences could be fairly complicated (being from actual literary sources, after all, and sometimes discussing local politics and such, and not designed for students in mind), but not always, and they gave an insight into how actual Japanese used the word in question-- very useful, I thought!

I'm sorry Sushi-san, I'm not at the level where I can write really amazing Japanese sentences. As I said, I'm just a beginner who can't really write complex sentences in Japanese (my teacher did't teach us the "te form" yet or anything relatively complex). But if you, or anyone else, would like to include an example sentence everyday, that would be awesome! I'm really so sorry for my lack of Japanese skill

If you can, you should create a banner to show support for this group!

I was actually thinking the same thing the other day! It sounds fine to me to create this type of thread! Does anyone know how to say "chit-chat" in Japanese because I'd really love to title the thread that!

That is a really good idea.
しゃべる (喋る) seems to mean "to speak/chat". I'd say there could be a better term though, maybe someone knows a colloquialism or popular modern word?

EDIT: おしゃべり (お喋り) is a noun meaning chattering, idle talk, chitchat, gossip etc. apparently.

しゃべり? It means a chat. It's from the verb 喋る, to chat.

Or maybe しゃべましょう for "let's chat"?

Edit: And CloudPersona beat me to the punch with the same suggestion.

Incidentally, I think チャット(する) is not uncommonly used as well.

I like チャット the best because to me it sounds cool. So how about チャットしましょう?
(ps: Ditto-san would you like to make the thread since you were the one who suggested it? It really does sound like it'll be a fun thread!)

We should have a thread for Japanese music.
