Women/females have to worry about things that men/males don't have to worry about, definitely. For example, when going to parties with drinking, women have to worry about guys slipping drugs into their drinks, they have to coordinate with their female friends; make sure they stay in contact, in case anything bad goes down, and they have to worry about having protection if they have sex that night. This is all things for just a party alone. Things that guys don't have to worry about (well, guys will want protection for sex, too, but if a woman gets pregnant, it is worse for the woman than the guy).

In general, there are other things, such as catcalling, having creepy and horny guys coming on to them, sexual harassment, and even rape. And rape is not just some mad man leaping from the bushes or something. In fact, a good majority of rapes don't go down like that. Usually, it could be something like a guy making out with a woman, and then he proceeds to move into sexual intercourse even though the woman doesn't want it and says she doesn't want it, but he ends up moving right into it...they do it...awkwardness afterwards...bam, the woman just got raped. The guy moves on with things the next day, the woman is stuck suffering from what she just went through.

What a pretty girl. And now she's dead. 23, and dead. The shame of what life can be sometimes.... So screwed up.

I have two sisters. They do a lot of martial arts and boxing with me so I know for a fact they could kick the living hell out of anyone like this. Makes me proud

As for those guys who did it..

Yeah.. with my little sister, one of her ex boyfriends actually issued a restraining order against her. >.>

When read all this crap about how helpless and terrified women are at all times, I feel like, "Dude.. I CANNOT be living in the only geographical anomalous place in the entire world where physically capable, and sometimes even monstrously strong women exist".

That incident is disgusting, but to answer your question, no, I wouldn't be afraid to walk alone especially into a place like McDonald's where I would not expect to be assaulted.

.......................................................................okay then.

I feel insulted that someone would look down on me and treat me like some helpless fawn simply because I have a vagina.

I deleted my original reply because I decided I didn't want to have to argue about this, but never mind.

No one's treating you like a fawn. These are real things that women face everyday. Maybe not you, but there are women out there, at universities, in big cities, who are subjected to date rape drugs and catcalling. I don't know why you're insulted by this, as if someone just tried to feed you a fairy tale.

Thank you for getting it. To the other poster (DeadlyDoll), I'm sorry that you feel insulted, I wasn't talking down to women. I wrote my post with something in mind from a college class I took, where women my age (college students) were basically talking about the things I wrote in my post, and the class was discussing things that women have to typically worry about that a lot of guys never even think about. My post was based on things young women were saying...like Latchan is saying, these are real things that women face everyday and it isn't as if I was trying to feed some fairy tale to you or anyone.

I'm not saying you or any women are just some helpless fawns. Don't take it that way. But the truth is, women do have to put up with a lot of shady and bad guys out there. There should be no denying it, and I think it is unfortunate that so many women have to put up with guys who are no good losers always looking for their next booty call.

But that's the thing. the way it's constantly being phrased, and primarily by other women and some men, it sounds like women are helpless fragile little things that go weak at the knees because someone said "hello"

This isn't Victorian London, but our talk of the "fears" women must face on the streets certainly mimics the same talk.

They're not. Whoever said they were?

I was responding to a post from someone who said they felt insulted because someone else pointed out that these were issues that women face.

Wait, what? When did OP ever say that women were helpless and fragile little things? These are fears. Real, legitimate fears that women face on a daily basis. Are you saying it's weak to have fears? I don't even understand what you're trying to get at here.

What? It's Victorian London for women to have fears? Where are you getting this ethereal impression from that all women have no fears?
