Male, I read much more Shonen manga but overall I would have to say I prefer Shoujo manga.
I find it has more detailed art, Better written comedy and doesn't drag quite as long.

Male and old enough to have a kid entering college next year, but my kids think my tastes in entertainment are more like a college age girl...

Seriously, my go-to demographic for manga is seinen, but in terms of shoujo vs shounen, I would say I do read more shoujo manga. I like some shounen series, but I am more into romantic comedy than any other genre, so I gravitate toward that, which leads to more shoujo. (I do read a lot of shounen romance, too)

Male :

Generally shonen and seinen. I like some shoujo (Card Captor Sakure, DNAngel). But a lot of more romantically focused shoujo just make me uncomfortable.

Thank you, that's the response i wanted haha

I'm a guy, 19 years old. I don't even know what Shonen/Shounen means, but apparently that's what I watch most of.

Female, mostly shounen, some shoujo, some seinen. Not a girly girl. I once used to read mainly shoujo, however.

I don't subscribe to the gender binary, but I am male presenting. As for the types of manga that I read, I tend to read a lot of shoujo romance or yaoi manga.

I would say your sample size from just this forum is far too small. But if I remember correctly, these days it leans towards a female majority. At least as far as manga sales goes.

That said, the "western fandom" or outside of Japan as it were, tends to be far more broad in the genres they have interest in. In Japan, there is a very rigid division between boys and girls oriented titles, and they wouldn't be caught dead looking at the opposite ones. (Outside of certain animes like Gundam which play up the pretty boys angle. Even then, the girls don't care for the Gundams or plot so much as shipping the characters and making doujins.)

Whereas western fans, you will find a lot of girls that will read/watch shounen titles, or guys that will read various shoujo, josei, or female-oriented seinen titles.
