Well if going with gaming included then I'd go with Metal Gear: Snake's Revenge. Luckily I don't think it really 'ruins' or even 'damages' the original its just a bad sequel.

Don't have any animes to put though

That game is not even canon to Metal Gear.

Love, Chuunibyou, and Other Delusions comes to mind... The second season was just completely pointless and made zero progress. Actually I think it somehow managed to take steps backwards from season 1.

Also the extra half-season of Kokoro Connect nearly ruined the whole show for me. Just terrible terrible narrative and character regression.

I have to say Mirai Nikki Redial. Sometimes a series doesn't need to have a happy ending and tie everything with a neat little bow. This OVA was disgustingly convenient and happy. Did someone say Deus Ex Machina? The original series ended with a nice bittersweet ending, as far as I can remember, and Redial basically shat on all of it.

Avoid the last 2 chapters of the Future Diary manga then, it is the same happy ending.

Oreimo OVAs. I thought it was a story about sibling bonding over rivalry, but they went full on incest at the end. And then they don't even go all the way, even with the numerous girls sacrificed. I mean, that ruined the series for me.

Some people may dislike Oreimo s2 for being a bad sequel, but I thought it was more enjoyable than s1. Except for the whole melodrama they go going with Kuroneko.

I'm still suprised that peopel actually didn't see the ending coming. I mean look at the fucking title. And to me there is nothing wrong with having an incest ending, they actually dealt with it in a rather decent way, at least in my oppinion, not sugarcoating it as "they are in love, it is meant to be" but rather as "we all know that this is wrong and they can't be together". Incest is a thing that happens and that show handled that topic way more maturely than most other Anime do.

.

-It wasn't some big revelation that came to kyoussuke that "hey, I shouldn't be boning my sister". No, it was not. It was more like "Ehhh, I lived the dream, time to move on". And for what? He broke up with Manami, refused Ayase and Kuroneko and everyone else, for a temporary relationship. I mean, wth. What was the fucking deal with Manami if he was going to break up with her in the end.
-Then, there's what I believe. I believe that while marriage wasn't possible, a romantic relationship was still feasible. We all know Dengeki Bunko or whatever wouldn't have gone for an incest ending, so that's why it ended the way it did. Not because the author wanted to drive home a point, but because of controversy.
-Many people believe that it had undertones of incest at best. The first season did nothing but subtle undertones of incestuous feelings, and so did some of the 2nd season. Melodrama was confusing and weird, but I could stomach it. Sort of.
-I would've gone for an incest ending if they handled it well, but no, they did not.

I liked Chuunibyo Ren. I don't think it ruined the series, but I think a lot of fans were expecting progression and fulfilment, not a side character story.

Infinite Stratos 2, yeah, it ruined the series some. The same formula of beginning and ending plot episodes blanketed by ecchi filler in a single cour really got stale.

I think Oreimo annoyed fans the most. I know everyone felt cheated at the end.

I'd put SAO season 2 as ruining the series for me. I like Kirito and Asuna as an actual couple-removing Asuna entirely and adding waifu Sinon was a huge step back. Like there's so few actual relationships in anime where we don't need to neglect what could have been a very healthy example over more hareming.

Black Butler Season 2. Ignoring how it happened and how it ended, it was actually a decent arc. However the first season ended things very well...and so the second season was just pointless.

The World God Only Knows Goddesses.

Its no secret (unless you're new here or haven't frequented the TWGOK3 thread) that while I love the first 2 seasons, the third season with its skip straight into the goddess arc is something I will never like. And that's coming from a manga reader as well.

I just watched the Stein's;Gate Movie. It doesn't ruin anything but I will tell you it is pointless. The only thing that it adds to the series is some cute scenes with Kurisu drunk. Unless you want to see that, it's kind of pointless to watch it. It doesn't take away from Stein's;Gate but it doesn't add anything either. And yes it is a sequel not a retelling, it takes place a year after the end of Stein's;Gate. The status quo at the end of the OVA does not change throughout the movie.

I think that is the point. It is just a movie for those who wanted more Steins Gate. They didn't alter the story but added more that doesn't really do anything.

Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World. The first one had a more challenging battle system that made you think and have to plan so you didn't constantly need to be healed since you couldn't run where ever you wanted to. The voice acting was better and characters were a lot more likable. The sequel was a spin-off too, so it wasn't even a true sequel, mostly just in name. The story focused more on the new characters you control with the old ones taking a backseat. Nice to see them again but they weren't given justice in my opinion. (and some even had new voice actors!)

I actually liked Gemini of the Meteor. It wasn't nearly as good as season 1, but I still thought it was cool. Especially the OP.
and by now everyone should know my feelings on the ending of Oremio (it was everything I could have ever wanted)

As far as bad sequels go, SAO season 2, specifically GGO, is pretty bad. Like most people, I wasn't a fan of ALO, but GGO was almost as bad.
Season 3 of Shakugan no Shana never did a good job of explaining anything, so I can't say I enjoyed that too much.
I'm leaning towards saying Log Horizon 2, but there's still hope for it to recover!

Does the second half of the Usagi Drop manga count? I'm pretty sure everyone can agree that it never should of happened. It's the only show I'm desperately hoping WON'T get a second season, so that fucked up Hikari Genji situation never hits television. And this is coming from someone who usually loves messed up twists...but there are some things you just don't touch. A loving father-daughter relationship is one of them,

Welp, it looks like I'm alone in enjoying Ef and the Kokoro Connect OVA. But then again, I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to anime. If I see something that was annoying or something I usually set it aside and try to enjoy the show for what its supposed to be. In Ef's case, it meant looking past any logical problems and enjoying the dark story. As for Kokoro Connect, I sort of agree with the whole Iori being an epic pain, but I got my Inaba x Taichi pairing out of it so I enjoyed it overall.

As for a show that let me down, I'll probably Chuunibyou S2 since it was pretty lackluster compared to S1 and the imaginary battles hardly did anything for it.

Yeah, the second one wasn't anywhere near as good.
Though Ratatosk had me rolling on the floor.
The application of Norse mythology in general could get a bit lol-sy at times in those two games.

Pfffft. Guess a squirrel relates to a frightened Emil in a way. At least there's no such thing as a Ratatosk Laser.

I'll be patiently waiting for Heart of Jupiter to get animated.
