I cannot see the subtitles clearly while watching videos because the navigation bar blocks them from view. The progress bar and "play, stop, rewind, fast forward" buttons all stay on the screen and flicker repeatedly instead of hiding so I cannot watch the video because I am trying to read the subtitles clearly. HELP!

Oh yeah. It's the new update that kindle had that messed it up. To get it to go away you literally have to start the episode and not touch the screen. (So no pausing or anything once the episode starts) To skip the intros, I start the episode, skip the intro, exit out of the episode, and then go back to the episode clicking "resume episode". It's a total pain, but that's how I do it.

It's part of the FireOS 4 that they recently released. I complained to Amazon about it, and their response was talk to the developer. Which is fundamentally fruitless.

There is an annoying way to get rid of it. Touch the screen to make the progress bar active, then quickly slide in from the right, which brings up the "home" menu, and then just as quickly slide it back out. If you time it properly, you'll get rid of the progress bar. Until the next time you want to pause or rewind

If you look at the progress bar when it's displayed, it blinks every 10 or so seconds, as if it wants to hide itself, but the OS is preventing it. I don't know if it a FireOS issue, or an Android 4.4 issue (which is what FireOS 4 is based on).

This needs to be fixed, (Fire HDX 7) but you can work around it by pulling down the Notification area and pulling it back up. As long as you don't touch anything after that the control bar stays hidden.

Just got a Fire HD 7, saw this happening and thought it seemed familiar. Guess I had read about it here. Really frustrating that it's 8 months later and hasn't been fixed.

Fortunately I have plenty of other options.

Have you tried sideloading the (official) 1.1.4 version from somewhere outside the Amazon store (which still only has version 0.9.7 available), such as using the (free) 1mobil.com app (which itself has to be sideloaded). It works for me on my 8.9 Fire HD, but I don't have the smaller one to check with.

I haven't (I did sideload the Manga app though, and that works pretty well!)

I'm not sure this issue is worth it, though I might try, even if just out of curiosity. At the moment I don't expect to be using the device very often for watching crunchyroll, and after playing around with it a bit, I have worked out that swiping down the notification area isn't a bad alternative. Just not as instinctive as tapping the screen

Has anyone tried sideloading Kodi media player? The Crunchyroll plugin works with it fairly well on Android. I don't have a Kindle to test but it works great on my LG V500.

I just sideloaded the up-to-date app from my phone to my Kindle Fire HDX. I had the menu problem with the app from the Amazon store. After sideloading, the new app does not have the same problem. IT works perfectly. Unfortunately, until Amazon updates the app, this may be the only solution.

For those of you using Kindle Fire HD, I may have a solution for you:

I use Kindle Fire HD 4th Generation. I've installed many versions, the one on Amazon's store is old and buggy as hell.

Currently, the only version I've been able to get to work is 1.1.5. I've tried 1.1.9, 1.1.8, 1.1.7, and the Amazon store version from 2011 xD 0.9.6

You can download the Crunchyroll Installer (.apk file) here: MAKE SURE TO TRY 1.1.5 first~~!!!:
*edited*

If you don't want to bother transfering the installer from your computer, browse to the link (above) in Silk. (Or Dolphin, if your nasty)

I've removed the link to the 3rd party apk hoster. Please don't link such sites, as those sites are not trustworthy and the apks might be injected with malicious code.

The answer to this is to update the version on Amazon. The version on Amazon is like It's 0.9.7, and the current version is like 1.1.mumble. I know you're probably not the developer in charge of these things, but it's an issue, and has been an issue for a very long time.

For what it's worth, the 1.1.5 version that was previously linked addressed the particular issue being discussed.

I've got the Amazon CR app installed on my Kindle Fire HDX, I guess I downloaded it just under the wire before it disappeared... My one major complaint with the app is that it does not display / play the dubbed version of a show, even when I can on my Roku and iOS...
