In my right-click drop-down menu there are no Japanese subtitles. This would be a nice feature for people who need Japanese subtitles, or are learning to read Japanese.

There have been several threads suggesting the same thing in the past (though I can't find the threads), and the general response from the staff has been that CR is an entertainment service, and not an educational one, so including Japanese subs for people interested in learning the language does not fit their mission statement.

My statement was not exclusively referring to education purposes only, if you read it in its entirety. There are also Japanese speakers who are hearing impaired, or need to have the volume turned down to be polite. Has CR made an official statement saying that it does not support the handicapped?

What percentage of people do you believe are viewing CR that only read Japanese and are hearing impaired? I suspect it is more like a fraction of 1%.

Keep in mind that few of CR's shows are available within Japan.

Only RWBY is. Which is an English audio show.

Kinda an old topic, but asking anyways.

Why are few of the shows available in Japan? I mean, considering Anime is coming from Japan, having it not available in Japan seems rather weird to me.

Personally, I'd also like to see Japanese subtitles.

Because it is already licensed there, both by the broadcast stations and in many cases, other streaming sites (such as Nico Nico).

It works much like the way that CR normally can't get a show for the US or Canada (or often many other markets, such as all English speaking countries) if it is licensed by Funimation.

Man japanese subtitles would be amazing. It such a pain in the arse to get my fix on raw anime with subs right now. I'd be a premium subscriber for life if jap subs would be possible.

How hard could it be to implement though? I get that kanji subs might be somewhat painful if they only go off of the audio, but what about just Hiragana subs?

There may also be issues/costs with securing rights to include Japanese language subtitles.
