This just goes to show we all have to be careful online and we should keep our online lives and real lives separate.... By the way, who wants to meet up for a fun party time @ my basement?!?!?! It'll be such a fun time!

Proof that you have to be careful. That nobody is what they seem. That anonymity is a true cloak as to how psychopathic people can be behind a mouse. I've seen people online who sound like potential dangers to society and I would never meet them irl. See the fact that I was essentially having a battle of "who's more of the bitch" with hinata.ga ( Isaac the Germanic Lunatic ) who originates from the world wide web's cesspool #2 - tumblr. Personally the idea of meeting someone from tumblr is terrifying to me. I have a stalker on my Skype now that's pestering me thanks to tumblr. They told me they wanted to see me "raped and killed". Excuse me while my faith in humanity declines and drains.

personally have met about 30+ people irl from online, and had never been harassed once. I think that kid just got unlucky.

also don't understand the point of writing, "he's a good kid, intelligent kid" etc in the article... how is that relevant to anything? was hoping to read about the motives of the killer and why it happened... not read a biography about the victim.

the point was to show that he was killed just because the other guy felt like it, the kid was not a scum, i guess

Why do people like to say nice things to people who are dead?
Posted 12/4/14
Interesting points, it seems to be a more victim oriented attention than perpetrator oriented. This may be because that's all the info people are willing to share.

Well I know what I'm not doing...

On another note, there are some pretty screwed up people in this world

Honestly, no clue. A living person is somebody, but a corpse is a corpse is a corpse. I try not to express that view too much because I know others get pissed off about it.

What gets me is that every time someone reads something about someone dying from ill means they start reacting like the world's a cruel horrible, evil place and we should just burn it all to hell...

*sigh*

Death happens. It's the price of living. It doesn't have to seem like a fair price, but it's the price we all must eventually pay.

Media usually tries to victimize since it's easier to sympathy towards a victim then a psychopath. I'd also love to know his reasoning, however I don't think we'll ever get to know how the killer was thinking.

Anyhow, I hope he get's some serious punishment after what he have done.

There are reasons why To Catch A Predator, phishing jokes, and whatnot are used to demonstrate why people should be cautious when meeting up with online strangers. Hell, there are reasons why warnings about meeting up with strangers are commonplace, period.

Sometimes, people can only learn the hard way. Problem is, the "hard way" may be fatal.

I've met people from the internets. given out my address to them, etc. Hell, I've even flown to meet them, knowing I'd be staying with these "stranger" I've talked to for a year or two online. Never had any issues.

Sad, yes, using a little precaution? of course. but don't make isolated incidences or rare occurences dictate what the overwhelming majority turn out to be like.

EDIT: just because I didn't address it, what I said above is aimed at people over 18 meeting up with people. I definitely don't advocate anyone underage going off to meet random people. This goes for both on the internet or off. (which, my suspicions are that it's equally dangerous regardless of where you first meet them)

Well I'm 17 and meeting with a friend I've talked to for 3 years at a con in about 6 months, guess I'll be 3 months too young.
