Hello everyone. It's always good to meet more fans of anything created by Leiji Matsumoto. I would have to say that Galaxy Express 999 is the first anime I remember seeing as a kid so it's very close to my heart. I find it really frustrating that Matsumoto seems to get very little recognition amongst the newer generation of anime fans these days. But anyway, I hope to get to know everyone here!

i remember watching Star Blazers as a kid. i do believe it was the first animated show i ever watched. so pretty much Leiji's work has become my standard for all anime i watch.

Hey, guys! Thanks for joining this little group. I've always had trouble finding other Matsumoto fans, so I figured, hey, let's try this! You're right, kankokujin--most young anime fans overlook these titles for shinier, more hyped ones. Ah well. They're missin' out, right?

At first, I was actually averse to Matsumoto, when I first saw GE999 serialized in Animerica yeeears ago. I didn't really follow it well, and it just slipped out of sight and out of mind.

A year or so ago, I decided "What the hell, why not?" and had a look at Captain Harlock and......I am hooked. Harlock, GE999, Cosmo Warrior Zero, even Gun Frontier--I love 'em all! And I hope to have a look into Star Blazers as well.

Nice to meet you!

By any chance, do you know if the original Japanese Star Blazers(Space Battleship Yamato) was licensed in the US?

It's hard to find other Matsumoto fans. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one.

Not too sure!
Do any of these meet what you're looking for?

I haven't seen Star Blazers, myself, so I am not particularly sure.
Hope that helps!

Well if it's been officially released in English, they must have been licensed.
