Title says it all. I'm a man in my mid 40's, and this is based on a series of light novels for teens (mostly), but this is heavy stuff. I didn't cry at my grandma's funeral since she had had Alzheimers and dementia for over 10 years and thus had been practically dead in the head for at least half that time although her body was fine. I didn't cry at my mom's funeral until I touched the coffin, and that was the last time...

...until today. Today I became a blubbering baby, especially in the shower before work. I'm having trouble keeping the tears out of my eyes even as I type this at work. Sure, anime can make you sad, but this is the most heart-wrenching thing I've watched in a long time--probably because I avoid that kind of thing. There is a lot of anime I haven't watched, admittedly, and I've seen some stuff that came close, but this was awful simply because it was so realistic--a characteristic of the SAO series that makes similar genera stuff like Log Horizon look like a worthless imitation (though it's clearly written for a younger crowd, anyway). I guess that's why I watch and read anime, manga, and other fantasy: I try to escape from reality with it. SAO managed to sneak it in, anyway, and, while I haven't read the novels (assuming there's a translation available), after this I have little doubt the adaptation is likely one of the best.

I didn't see anyone else write this, so I thought I would. I just needed to. Sorry if it's just BS for you.

Wish they injected her with a different blood sample. But here's a thought, what if Sachi was Yuuki's sister. It all adds up right? At least in my brain

I agree. I also cried a little at the last couple of episodes, I do not know why I feel so connected to this anime, I have watched a lot of anime, but for some reason SAO has just resonated with me to the point I have watched the entire series 3 times. but the last couple of episodes have shown how much work has gone into connecting the fan to the character, and that's impressive to me.

Now I'm scared to watch them...

I'll wait until I have something lighthearted to watch straight after.
