I have a couple questions:

1) Would a story be appealing with a male and female acting like a BL couple? Include the tropes and plot that many BL stories have, and if you can imagine that does it have the same appeal as the homosexual version?

2) Could a story with females in the BL roles be appealing?

I don’t mean for this to sound like an accusation or anything, I’m genuinely curious.

Um.

That is all I have to say.

Happens in Yuri quite often. Yuri is mostly produced by women though so it's probably why the same tropes come out in it.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm a (mostly) hetero male. I also enjoy a good romance from time to time, regardless of the genders involved.

That said, I've tried reading a couple of BL manga, and didn't like 'em. Largely because of the seme/uke thing. Also because, at least in the ones I tried, the entire thing was about the relationship, as if the characters didn't have a life outside of it. This makes for poor character development. And no, I don't recall which ones they were, it was a while ago. I'd recognize the names though.

Really, the only m/m relationship stories I've enjoyed were both western, the webcomic Boy Meets Boy, and the Jamie/Iason sidestories in the webnovel Tales of MU. That last one was especially interesting in this context, since the Iason character is a firm believer in seme/uke roles, while Jamie finds it absurd.

I've seen some yaoi/BL. Some of it I found entertaining others uncomfortable. The gay relationship thing was good as long as it didn't go too far enough to be constantly abusive without the abusive one facing the consequences of their actions. I'll stay away from incest, shota. and underage relationships. I liked most of Junjou Romantica and Love Stage. It was kind of sweet to see manga/anime guys smitten over each other, wanting to get each other flowers or gifts or wondering if they should hold hands. Yes sometimes they do get a bit raunchy.

The tendency of people to flaunt this stuff is the thing that disgusts me the most.

Okay, you like to watch gay guys screw each other. Fantastic.

Who the heck told you I wanted to see it too?!

Reading it aloud? Yes. Terrible writing should never be forced onto others.

I find yaoi quite interesting as it is quite different from other genres. Although my friends say that I may be bisexual in the anime world but straight irl.

WEll the question then becomes, what do you consider ´flaunting´? I mean, for example, at a convention, if I want to cosplay a character from a yaoi anime or browse some merchandise in the dealer room, that should obviously okay. Because you know, it´s anime/manga and it´s an otaku convention.

Funny thing is, I never hear the vast majority of those who complain ´oh look they have a yaoi love pillow here! I have to go puke now!´ about all the straight hentai ones... not that I think there is anything wrong with those, I think it´s totally normal and healthy and I love ecchi harem series with big-oppai´ed girls myself (in little clothing :3) it´s just the double standard(s) which kind of annoys me as a bisexual person...

I mean my dashboard on Tumblr getting filled with such things. Or people who like the stuff trying to show it to me and get me into it.

well, people are free to post it on Tumblr if they want right ? But I don´t have tumblr, is your dashboard like your twitter timeline? Because then, no, they should not do that without your permission. But if you choose to follow them (I don´t know how it works on there) and then you see it because of that, then you should just unfollow them if you don´t want to see it.

Forcing you to watch it is bad, obviously.
