The funny thing is that if people took time to read the content of the Bible they'd have far less of an issue with it. Also if you are Christian you can understand the background and history behind women and biblical stories.

Also, men and women aren't the same physically, emotionally, psychologically, hormonally, etc.... If you don't like that I propose you start research on genetic manipulation and start making gender neutral babies :D

It seems like most of the people that haven't read the Bible (you know, the ones that let their pastor pick out which lines he's going to read to them everyday to make it look good) are the ones that are okay with it.

Dude. that writing style is horrific.

I HaVe REad TehBIBle ToO.

I'm more of a Gnostic Christian.

The bible isn't bad once you understand it's a book with multiple functions and originally worked as a series of scrolls. It's religion but it's also history, law, culture via songs and wisdom sayings, etc. Each one taken on its own is fine for that context in a way, but when it's bound in book form, it's given a particular order and stuck into one codex. Then there's the new testament. Four books are written by those that, according to the story, about 1500 years after the old book (which is there primarily as reference), witnessed the new godhead that revised the whole religion. Then there's the rest of the new testament, written by a tax man and a eunuch who had a vision of the new godhead, and decided to convert and become the guy who penned the rest of the bible (except for revelations, which was a crazy guy in the desert having visions).as he wrote letters to all these other areas of the known world trying to convince them to convert.

It really isn't meant to be read from cover to cover and definitely not meant for each book to carry the same weight.

So if you're truly christian, the gospels should be most important. Those contain the stories of eyewitnesses of christ. The front of the book is reference material for studying about jesus. The letters are there to define the church and it's message. The crazy man's talk at the end is there because....?????

Anyhow, that's my 2 cents.

Sorry You don't care for My writing. I hardly think that the aesthetics of My penmanship have anything to do with lessening the importance and on Topic actual Information behind the words that I have written. But I digress. You're not the first to make a complaint over it, and You most certainly won't be the last. I'm sorry that because the way of what I wrote looks distracts You from seeing the actual merit of the words that I put down. Not trying to start a "Flame war" or anything, simply being frank.

Eh what do we expect. Australia has always been tough on violent media. Also I'm not a big fan of religion either. However, seeing as I don't possess the required military might to wipe it off the face of the earth, there's not much I can really do about it.

I went to Target Australia's website and ran a search on the term "bible". I keep getting redirected to "bubble". "holy bible" returns nothing at all.

http://www.target.com.au/search?text=holy+bible
http://www.target.com.au/search?text=bible

That fact checking debacle aside, I really don't see the point here. Consumers complained about the game because its content upset them, Target responded to those complaints by voluntarily deciding to stop selling the game. A petition to return Grand Theft Auto V to the shelves of Australian Target stores which gathered a substantially stronger following than the one to have it removed would've made sense as a counter-campaign. This doesn't.

What's the message supposed to be here? Consumers shouldn't submit negative feedback about the inventories of stores they frequent? Stores shouldn't respond to negative consumer feedback? It doesn't even make sense to respond to Target's decision this way. It's not as if the game became unavailable throughout Australia, it's not as if Target was coerced into removing the game from its shelves, and it's not as if there aren't more constructive avenues to get the game returned to Target's shelves than sarcastically demanding that something else be removed from their inventory.

Even though it's only sort of on topic: I agree. I was raised in a Catholic household, and my church community actively encourages acceptance and tolerance of everybody, no matter what. It's a very positive and inclusive environment. We also follow a looser interpretation of the Bible's teachings so that probably plays a role. But I've also met my fair share of Christians, some very close to me, who take their faith to the extreme, take the Bible very literally without factoring in its age (and how we got to the book we have today), condemn people left and right, and spread some truly terrible messages. I fully understand why people like that would taint others' views on Christianity, but it makes me sad because a few rotten apples make the whole bunch look bad.

Of course, I'd think we'd find this is true of any religion. Every religion has its extremists that will taint how outsiders view that religion. And it's usually the extremists that draw the most attention.

I was raised Catholic, too. It sounds like you are Christian. So am I. I'm glad to hear your church community is more open minded. I think a lot of church communities, and thus, a lot of Christians (I'm talking about in America; don't know too much about the religion in other parts of the world) can be very close minded. A lot of them have a lot of prejudice against all sorts of people and are not willing to accept that a lot of people are different from themselves.

Christians want to convert others to their religion, but at the same time, I believe there should be more acceptance and tolerance with some Christians. Yes, they want to draw people to their religion, but having hardly any acceptance and tolerance of non-believers (or anyone they oppose) is just totally 'Us vs. Them', and the world needs a lot less of that. Also, what a lot of these Christians do - the ones who judge and condemn freely and excessively, who have many prejudices; some even hating certain kinds of people - they only end up driving many people away from the Christian religion. This only serves to create more of the anti-Christian feelings and attitudes we find a lot of today.

It is very important that Christians strive for love and compassion and kindness, for many reasons, but one of which is because genuine, heartfelt love from Christians can help draw people to their religion. A man who wrote a book (a Christian author) once said: "There are five Gospels. Matthew, Mark, John, and Luke - and 'The Christian' ". Christians, who they are, and how they live their lives, will either make a case for or against their religion.

As a foundation on which religious organizations and societies were formed, the bible has been misused as an instrument of repression and control which would justify banning it, but as a work of literature, it's a masterpiece that has inspired and still inspires countless artists, poets, writers, and should be preserved as such.

Just goes to show how the people who started this petition really are goons. They don't even bother to check whether or not Target sells Bibles before making this faux petition.

The people that started this joke petition are probably atheists, and just like how every religion has bad eggs - guess what, lots of atheists are idiots, jerks, and buffoons, too. It isn't exclusive to just religious people. Atheists have their bad eggs, too.
