Update: The votes are in and it looks like lots and lots of people love the Polls forum--so it won't be going away. We did also get a lot of responses in favor of allowing polls in both the Polls forum and in other forums. That's a possibility we're considering, but for right now, carry on--the Polls forum is your one-stop shop for Crunchypolls!

Hi folks! Don't worry! We won't be getting rid of Polls. What we want to know is if you like the current setup, where we have a special forum just for Poll topics (and don't allow them in the other forums), or if you'd like to see a change.

Regardless of how you vote, we're especially interested in hearing why you voted as you did, or if you have other thoughts about Poll topics, so please post a bit about your choice below.

Please don't request other forum changes here--you can share those in the What forum improvements would you like thread, stickied near the top of the General Discussion forum.

Replies here that aren't related to Crunchyroll Polls may be deleted.

well it doesn't matter to me either way, however i will say i didn't even know there was a polls forum except for anime forum i don't venture beyond what's on CR's home page. but i do think it would be fine to have polls wherever, wouldn't hurt anything at least.

honestly, I thought this was a double post at first because I just hit the "general" boards rather than hit polls, general discussion, extended discussion, etc.

So as a result I say do away with the polls board as a separate thing and just put them across the whole board... Though then again, on second thought, I worry if polls won't start become the defacto way of starting a topic.

Do you think that would be a bad thing?

I worry that maybe it would be too tempting to just vote and leave and not post at all and that discussion would dwindle. But then I think that people who currently like to reply would mostly continue to do so, and that maybe polls in all the forums would give an easy way for lurkers to participate a tiny bit more than they do now.

On the other hand, I admit I myself sometimes like to just look at all the recent polls all together in one place--even if I'm not voting in them.

I think it's a legitimate concern. Voting makes answers simplistic. And if voting type topics crowd out others visually on the first page, I doubt others are going to crawl through the pages. Personally I'm not a huge fan of stickies because they do the same thing (prevent more relevant (to me) topics from appearing front and center on the first page)

I think polls should go in their respective topics.
Not in a single poll thread.

I think polls should remain where they are. I find myself not commenting in them because I just click on the vote, then move on. I really think it will end up discouraging discussion moving them into the main areas. Frankly, I almost didn't comment here because I already voted on the poll, but realizing this is more important...I wanted to make this opinion known.

But that's my 2¢

Get rid of polls forum so more people will see it.

Having said that, I'm sure most ppl would not want to see a page full of pointless polls... On general discussions.

And if I may add, merge general discussions and extended discussions... Since extended is even more dead than polls...

I voted for #1.
Kind of a flip of the coin or two...

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the feedback. Keep it coming.

Keep the polls in the polls forum. I have ventured there a couple times and find that most of the polls there are absolutely terrible and pointless. I would hate to see those push any of the somewhat decent topics, which are rare enough, down in the general discussion area where they might be more easily missed. I also agree with what was stated above in that polls do encourage less discussion in most cases. When people are forced to type out a response they are more inclined to give more detailed answers which can then be replied to by others with points of their own to make. Being able to simply click an answer and walk away doesn't really allow that.

I say we get rid of the Poll forums, they aren't used that much anyway.

but let us post polls in our topics.

having polls in the poll sections is kind odd. if its an anime poll, it should go in to anime section.

I like the last choice

Having the convenience to see every poll and being able to use them in all discussions sounds nice

Keep the polls forum so I don't have to see it clogging up general discussion.
