Well I personally try not to take much medicine. I can't say it's possible for our immune system to grow weak just because we take it.

I do however believe people rely on it way too much to solve their problems. This could give rise to some problems and actually might even lead to the medicine actually losing it's impact due to whatever ails you becoming resistant.

People also seem to overreact to illness. Something happens that hints at you being ill? Some people deal with it and they're over it in no time. Others will take medicine and end up getting over it just about the same time. People want to avoid the, in most cases, painful symptoms that are associated with illness. Things like advil just make the whole fighting the illness thing less discomforting to us. Considering the world we live in many people can't afford to be put down with a fever which, I think, is just the body fighting the bacteria, virus, whatever. Edit: A yes almost forgot. Lots of times things like headaches are caused by the lifestyles we live and the environment we exist in. Caffeine withdrawals for example, if I'm not mistaken, can give rise to headaches. Too much of it can too I believe. So medicine is also a way of ignoring problems that really aren't problems. Some pain we feel isn't really a precursor to even more dangerous problems, it's just annoying.

Medicine plays a very important role though. Lots of medication does what our body can't. The prescription drugs primarily take care of these things we can't handle normally. Such things really give us a longer life span but many times we are reliant on those medication to live normally. So I can see why people will say we are reliant on it since several people out there could be using medicine just to live.

I don't know it has it's ups and down. I think many times people overreact and end up giving medicine we don't need. People think there's always something wrong with someone even though there may not be. Even so, it plays a very important role in keeping everyone healthy in what can be seen as an unhealthy environment.

Damn, long post lol soooo sorry

First of all, ADHD should not be considered any type of psychological condition. Those kids are just fucked in the head because of something in their environment or bad parenting skills.
Secondly, for the adults that are clinically depressed and have SAD, post-partum and bipolar you really can't say a damn thing about growing up. Those people have problems and in some cases only medication will help their brains to stay leveled and balanced.

i call bullshit. i was diagnosed "depressed" at 15 years old. what 15 year old is depressed? the losers without friends. depression is bullshit, its being sad. big fuckin deal. get over it. post partum depression? so you're upset you had a baby. think it will ruin your life. well it probably will. people with this "condition" are people who didn't think a baby was part pf their lives. well SURPRISE SLUT!! it is. deal with it. bipolar? thats the biggest joke of all. its called a clinical term for DRAMA QUEEN! so you're a moody little bitch. GROW THE FUCK UP and learn to control yourself and life wont be that god damn hard. you dont need a pill for it. a pill will not help.

none of the "conditions" i've mentioned would attribute to that event. so before you start with the name calling, please explain to me why he would do such a thing. or you can PM me if you don't want to get into it here. i AM a psychology major.

the basic idea of that brings me to another thought.

the way human beings are living today, particularly in western society, are defying the laws of natures. we are no longer living by the law of survival of the fittest. we continue to find means to make our lives more convenient. viruses and disease are no longer and issue. we HAVE NOT overcome evolution but halted it. we will continue to before weaker and weaker. if and when our civilization collapses around us, we will have nowhere to turn. every bit of instict we had has been long forgotten. i'd take a wild stab and say probably 1% of us could survive in the wild for 4 months. at this point, we're really an abomination unto this world. and it's really very sad.

there's no clinical condition that will directly cause what has happened to your family. and thats coming from a schizo psychology student. i know that depression can be very real, but i can also tell you from first hand experience that its all about overcoming. yeah, i hear shit, i see shit sometimes, but its all about the reality around you. from you telling me that your father abused him, i can very simply say that it was nothing but parenting that mislead him, and caused him to do the horrible things that he did. i am a firm believer that people are what they are made out to be. but at the same time, theres a person rite of passage, if you will, that each person in life goes though. some younger than others. apparently your brother never experienced this and unfortunately ruined lives in the process. do i think it was a condition? no. do i think it could have been prevented if he was properly medicated? absofuckinlutely not. and thats what this topic is all about.
