Suikoden II, one of my favorite JRPG's ever, and quite possibly one of, if not the best JRPG from the Playstation era, is going to be on the PSN today.*

You guys have no idea how good it feels to say that. Everyone knows Final Fantasy VII, or Kingdom Hearts, or Persona, or Tales, but very few have either heard of Suikoden II, or even played it. Part of it is because the game itself is hard to find, or cost several hundred dollars, until now.

I can't really talk about the story or the gameplay without spoiling too much, but suffice it to say that the game holds up particularly well; while the localization is a bit of a trainwreck, the battle system is fast and responsive, the music catchy and nostalgic, and the 2D sprite graphics held up considerably well due to their colors and the number of animation sprites that went into them (compare PS1-era 3D games before FFVIII and you'll see what I'm talking about).

I can't really say any more other than "just play the game. It's only $10, come on!". And I hope at the end of your journey, you'll know why I'm so crazy about Suikoden II.

*Was available earlier, but got taken down after they priced it wrong... well, actually, they will always price it wrong. The game's priceless.

I pickled up a copy of the game several years ago now in the PAL region. It cost me £125. I seriously paid that for a videogame- and it was worth every single one of her Majesty's pennies.
I later paid a similar price for Suikoden 1. Also worth it..... So yeah, you should defo pick it up now.

I think its good for players that don't own it already, or have never played or heard of the game, can now finally get it without price-gouging costing them an arm and a leg.

I still haven't tried it. I've never played any of the Suikoden games but I've heard such good things and yet I still haven't picked any of them up xD

As others have said, Suikoden II has been almost impossible to find for a very long time, and it is absolutely worth the money. Yes, the visuals are a little dated, but the soundtrack is not, and the story and characters are amazing. I will say that you get a little more from it if you pay the original Suikoden first (also on PSN, and, at about 20 hours, you can easily beat it in a week, even if you go for all 108 characters).
