Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male/Amusing Injuries - The guy (usually it's a guy) gets the crap beaten out of him almost every time he interacts with a girl, regardless whether he's done something wrong or not. Even if he did something wrong, there are better ways to deal with the problem than beating him up.

I just wish this trope would stop.

Don't you just love that stubborn anime character that would stop at nothing to save every single person without knowing ANYTHING.

does anyone else gets annoyed when two characters talk... the suddenly laugh together at the same time because they think they've said something funny or read each other's mind or something?

I find that so annoying. (can find this during most love scenes between new lovers)...

Makes you wonder if they can.

Well, depending on how close they are, they might be able to, in a sense. I'm able to understand what my husband is thinking or trying to say 9/10.

I would have to say either Phinks or Nobunaga ,lol...

Now to answer your question, either the princess peach like female characters who always need saving or the main character who gets way too many power ups.

I despise the male characters who attract a harem just by being a nice guy. Nice is a good starting point, but put some effort into something, anything, that makes you an interesting character.

I am watching Magical Warfare and I hate useless female characters that can't do shit. It's demeaning to women and does not have very many benefits besides being a masturbatory fantasy for males. I mean, a strong girl totally threatens ones masculinity.

I also dislike how ridiculously strong antagonists are and how weak our main people are. Can't we simply have a thing where both sides are relatively equal in standing, huh?

While not necessarily a trope, Changing the intro song for no apparent reason.

When it's used effectively, (Attack on Titan, to show the transition from the cadets to the Survey Corps)( High School DxD New, to show that they transitioned to the next Story arc) It sets up the expectations of the viewer that they are going for something new.

Using "Database" for both seasons of Log Horizon, and just changing the ED for the transition to a new season is effective as well.

While not denying the song "Liar Mask" was a great song for the 2nd part of Akame ga Kill, If they had kept "Skyreach" it wouldn't have bothered me. Argevollen suffers from this too "Tough Intention" was great, then they seemed to shift to the new song "Zone-It" for no apparent reason.

Oh I have quite a few. The majority used in love triangle and harem romance stuff but specifically the following really get me though:
*SNIP*
The harem shipping harem member - Momo from TLR, Miku from DaL, Akeno from DxD etc. Just because you know you won't actually win you have to try and force a harem on the protagonist against his will. Do fuck off.

*SNIP*

Harem endings - These CAN work but normally they are used a cheap cop out that doesn't even change the status quo from earlier in the story. Completely half assed endings most of the time.

Lack of closure for the other girls - not really a trope but something that happens all the damn time in harem/love triangle stuff. The guy picks a girl and then BAM!!! One of the two following things happen:

1) the other girl/s are dropped from the story completely - Why spend X number of chapters/volumes/episodes building up this chapter, getting the viewer/reader invested in them and then just throw them out? It is insulting to the character and to the readers.

2) they hover around the OTP pining after a love that will never be - maybe this is a Japanese thing, maybe they think never giving up on a love you can never have is somehow endearing and romantic, but to me it is depressing as hell. Let them move on and show the reader/viewer they have cast their nets again. Give us hope for them in the future.

I'd really like to like harem/love triangle stuff but they just damn well won't let me. This is why my staple is slice of life ¬_¬

Have you ever actually watched DxD?!

Issei outright says that he want a harem in the first two minutes of the series; wants to become a noble devil so he can have sex with his servants, which I bet Rias wishes she'd been a little less forthcoming about now; he even refers to himself as the harem king. Him wanting a harem comes up constantly.

So he's thrilled to have women that ship the harem. He also cares a lot about Akeno, and the other women in his harem.

Yes and a fair bit of the novels. Akeno is an example of the type of character who knows they will not be picked if it came down to only picking one. She knows her only hope of being with Issei is if he does get his harem and pushes the issue constantly.

He loves all the girls but Rias is the lead by far and they all know it. This type of glee at being second best annoys the piss outa me.

If you haven't said it I would've. I've come to conclude that there are three acceptable responses (with some variations) to getting attacked by a supposed friend:

(1) Leave. Block the hit if possible, or not, but either way, walk, run, or fly away, and don't talk to that person again without being ready to do some variation of (2) or (3).

(2) Report. Find the local Reasonable Authority Figure and get them to make the attacker stop, or just find a friend to defend you and/or give your attacker a stern talking to, possibly with a Reason You Suck Speech thrown in.

(3) Fight. Grab their arm and break it, or dodge and hit back, or any number of variations on "there are two people trying to hurt each other and I'm not the one in pain". And on that note, one of the most annoying aspects of this trope is that the abuser is attacking, with violence, the abusee yet the abusee seems to think of the abuser as "not a legitimate target for violence", especially when Wouldn't Hit A Girl comes into play.

Occasionally, depending on the genre, none of these options will be available. If two or three people are stranded in the middle of nowhere and need to cooperate to survive, and one of them is prone to "comic" violence on another, then maybe there's no authority figures to Report to, and trying to Leave or Fight will end up with you on your own and less or no chance of survival. In that case, there's a metaphysical variation on (1): Emotionally Detach. Even if you can't stop the physical abuse, at least understand that this is not supposed to be happening and you do not in think anything good about the person doing it.

I've been wanting to rant about this for a while... probably ever since I tried to watch Zero no Tsukaima and couldn't get past episode 1. Thanks for listening.

I agree Rias is the favorite. However, that's still a long way from forcing a harem on someone against their will. He's actively seeking non-monogamous relationships, and Akeno is fine with it and trying to maintain hers. Honestly the relationship with Akeno seems like the healthiest one he's in on the show.

I get that you are annoyed with anyone being happy as a secondary relationship, but are you sure you don't just dislike the whole open relationship thing in general?
