The first few episodes were good but then came the whole Yui arc and constant "Papa" thing was cringeworthy and annoying. Then the 2nd arc was just horrible. Characters were bland.

Completely agree. Went from Trapped in a Game bad-assery to the protagonist doing random bullshit every episode 'developing his character' then it went back to the story for last 4 episodes of season 1. Now it's just the author copy/pasting cliche drama stories to showcase VR/AR technologies they think would be cool for the future.

But worst Anime? "Ah! My Goddess"
It's my 0 on my 0-10 scale. I've always been able say that no matter how bad something is "At least it's not as bad as Ah! My Goddess was, I'll give it a 1 or 2 out of 10." What's bad about 'Ah! My Goddess?' It's a Harem, it has absolutely no plot or story, to say that the characters are developing is an exercise in denial, there are probably only a handful of people on the entire planet that can sympathize with the protagonist, and on top of all that it even fails as an ecchi by offering you sub-par fan service. If it was advertised as a form of torture I would be able to give it a 6/10, but I think some paperwork got mixed up and they tried to run it as entertainment instead.

I guess you mean the TV series.

I know Ah! My Goddess is supposed to be one of the founders of the harem genre (or at least an important series in it) but it's not really a harem. The "winner" is picked before the others even turn up and there's really only one other girl that's particularly interested in Keiichi (and she doesn't appear much). I'd say it's mostly an episodic show and any advancement does tend to be slow but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think it generally does what it aims to reasonably well but you have to be in it's target audience to enjoy it.

Personally I quite enjoyed it but I tend to like slow paced shows or ones that many would say "have no plot" (which isn't technically true but I get what they mean even if they don't). I do think it's a shame they didn't use Mara (Marller? Whatever her name is), Megumi and the Third Class Earth Spirit more often (the Third Class Earth Spirit appears about twice but has one of the best moments in the show). Still, I quite like the way it deals with issues of learning about each other and living together after becoming a couple. Most romance shows only go as far as "they finally get together" then end, Ah! My Goddess basically starts there and carries on (even if the situation of them getting together is unusual, it's more like an arranged marriage that luckily happens between people who can love each other).

My earlier post can be confusing in that it might make you think I dislike all harems. I try to judge shows based on their value to their target audience. That being said I honestly believe Ah! My Goddess has 0 value for anyone who has experienced another form of 20th or 21st century entertainment. Their time would be better spent watching Jersey Shore or attempting suicide.
@Smeelia I believe you are suffering from severe sunk cost fallacy, as evidenced by your claims that there is plot progression in that show. I'd suggest psychiatric help, but you're probably better off forgetting the show exists. I apologize for bringing it up and making you remember.

Correction: that's your top 5 anime of all time.

Actual top five anime of all time are FMA: Brotherhood, Steins;Gate, Clannad After Story, Hunter x Hunter (2011), and Gintama. In that exact order. And I haven't seen psycho pass. I gave up on Urobutchi after zero.

Thats the funniest statement in the world. When I say Imho(in my humble opinion) I'm stating a fact, yet you flat out say "Actual top five anime off all time". Don't agree with your statement, but agree with some of your choices. I would have FMA brotherhood and hunter x hunter in "my top five".I liked Steins Gate, but feel its a little overrated

I assume you're joking, at least I'll hope you are. Also, I don't think you're using "sunk cost fallacy" correctly.

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying you're wrong to dislike the show (everyone is entitled to their opinion) but your description wasn't really accurate so I thought I'd address that.

If I remember correctly, it takes around eight episodes for Urd to even show up (like I said, slow). There's also that whole demon lord thing, Belldandy's jealousy and a few other bits. Sure, things tend to revert to a "status quo" of sorts but there are plots that progress and a few things do change as the series goes along.

As to rating the show by "value", I suppose it depends on how you're defining that. I'd say that enjoying the show would count as some sort of value but maybe you're looking for something in particular.

As in, men with big boobs? I guess that could be fun too.

Low Brow Pandering...I Guess It Is A Guilty Pleasure at Best?
By PeripheralVisionary on Dec 12, 2014 - See all reviews by PeripheralVisionary

I watch this show, and It's nothing but a mess of fanservice and wish fullfilment, and ultimately, low brow pandering. It's a guilty pleasure at best for me, and at worst?

Well, Let's get to it.

-The games, which are the "intellectual" part of the games, are won by asspulls mostthe time and barely lack any notable tactics other than "Hey, look at all the cool OP stuff I can do". We're never left wondering "if they can do it", because we're pretty sure it would be won by any means necessary, even if it egregiously bend rules to favor our protagonists.

-They're portrayed as paragons of wisdom and virtue. I'm sure most paranoid shut ins would like to be called wise and all that, but quite simply this is pandering to the teenager who wishes to create a fantasy in which they are king or queen. It's quite sickening. Not to mention the blatant disrespect for Stephanie Dola, the buttmonkey of the franchise, which doesn't bother me initially if they weren't portrayed in some twisted way as being morally infallible and wise.

-Fanservice doesn't bother me at that much, but it makes too much of the shows appeal than one would like to admit.

-Comedy was okay

-It's colorful.

Conclusion? It's low brow pandering, but you might enjoy it.
