For those who are having this issue and have Time Warner Cable this is the fix!

Now, onto entering the DNS Server addresses:

Wired Connections

Go to Settings on the XMB, select Network Settings and hit Internet Connection Settings
Click OK, then under 'Select a setting method', select Custom
Under 'Select a connection method', hit Wired
Next, we have 'Select the operation mode of the network device.' hit Auto-Detect
Now for 'IP Address Setting,' hit Automatic
For 'Set the DHCP host name,' select Do Not Set
Under DNS Setting, hit Manual
Select each number from your selected DNS IP address. It must be exactly what is given for you to connect properly!

USE ONE OF THESE OPTIONS
Google DNS:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

OpenDNS:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Cisco:
64.102.255.44
128.107.241.185

Hit Automatic for MTU
Hit Do Not Use for Proxy Server
Have UPnP enabled
Hit X to save network settings.

If you've got NAT 2, your router's in the clear for VoIP and other ports online games might use.

Wireless Connections:

Hit Internet Connection Settings
Under 'Select a setting method', select Custom
Under 'Select a connection method', hit Wireless
Under 'WLAN Settings,' hit Scan and select your router
hit right on SSID
hit another right on 'Security Setting' and enter the router password (if there is a password)
Then from here, things will be similar: for 'IP Address Setting,' hit Automatic
For 'Set the DHCP host name,' select Do Not Set
Under DNS Setting, hit Manual
Select each number from your selected DNS IP address. It must be exactly what is given for you to connect properly!

USE ONE OF THESE OPTIONS
Google DNS:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

OpenDNS:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Cisco:
64.102.255.44
128.107.241.185

Hit Automatic for MTU
Hit Do Not Use for Proxy Server
Have UPnP enabled
Hit X to save network settings.

Again, if you've got NAT 2, your router's in the clear for VoIP and other ports online games might use.

If you find a DNS Server that only has one IP Address, you can use that address for both the primary and secondary address. These servers are not in one city on the globe, so test out the servers until you have what you find what's best in your area.

This worked for me, Thanks Der Zoodirektor for defining the issue

THIS WORKED FOR ME!! Go into your PS3 or O PS4 connection settings. Use the OpenDNS for numbers for Brighthouse.

Changing DNS servers works for me as well on Bright House. I also got an email from crunchyroll support directing me to do the same.

I have run into this issue myself. I have playback issues on both the PS4 app and the Android app. Works fine from my computer browser.

I hope they can give us an answer and fix this problem soon. It sucks not being able to enjoy a service I pay for with the apps they provide.

EDIT: didn't see the past up top. Changing my DNS worked. Thanks!!!!

Hoooooooly crap. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was going mad over the weekend trying to make mine work. Next time I have more free time I'll be able to catch up.

I deleted the app on my PS4. Checked the app storage and there wasn't any data. Reinstalled the app and it still won't work. I haven't been able to watch CR for almost a week. I have been sitting here hoping they would release a patch to fix this but they have not. Why am I paying for something I can't use?

Read the past couple of replies in this thread. The reason for your outage is most likely your ISP and not on the end of CR.
Solutions for the issue have been given, too.

PS4 - Crashes randomly and freezes during video playback. Was it the last update that did this?

Removed and Re-installed and its still broken.

Same problem here!! Not an issue with TWC either since I'm not even from the US!

Please try to temporarily change your DNS server to a public DNS service such as Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) in your router. That might possibly fix the playback issues on your consoles and the likes.

(The TWC issue was already resolved, but this is a similar issue on a more global scale.)
