Alright so I recently decided to watch Naruto Shippuden after about 6 years of putting it off because I hated the fan base and given how obnoxious some fans were I thought the show would be horrible.

However, I am thoroughly enjoying it. I used to be a pretty big anti nartuo fan (mostly because i REALLY disliked the fan-base since most of the fans I have met are immature and very rude)

However, the show is actually very good and enjoyable, i have no gripes with it so far.

I was originally a very big fan of Bleach because of how awesome and courageous Ichigo was and was looking for a new shounen that had a strong and confident main character, and I think that's why Naruto has been so enjoyable for me.

So which anime's have you been against watching but ended up enjoying in the end?

Attack on Titan-Overrated, not "the best" in my opinion, but a quality anime. The first couple of episodes didn't reel me in, but I was glad to give it another chance.

Hunter x Hunter- Amazing show and one of my favorites, but had to rematch the first episode a couple times. For some reason I saw the cover and thought Leorio was suppose to be Gon's dad.

Yowanpeda/Yowamushi Pedal-Its a show about bike racing.....Never gave it any thought, but decided to watch an episode. I ended up watching 50 episodes in 2 weeks.

Monster-Heard great things, but procrastinated for years. A very good show, not your typical anime.

Ouran High School Host Club
I thought I wasn't going to like it because it looked too feminine. I gave it a chance and it's now one of my favorites.

Ping Pong. 'Cause, you know, sports anime. But I'm glad I waited until it was done so I could marathon it instead of waiting a week between episodes.

I don't know what it is about sports anime, but I've always felt the same way. Kuroko's Basketball, Yowamushi Pedal and Hajime no Ippo are making me think different about that.

Originally avoided The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya because it looked overhyped, had an obnoxious fanbase and I wasn't feeling the ''high school girl with godlike powers and other supernatural people'' plot.

.......As of today I own all the light novels and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is easily in my top 3 anime movies.

TMOHS is amazing, it's actually worth the hype.
AOT/SnK will probably this way for me when I actually decide to watch it.

I put off watching Baby Steps because the name didn't seem like it would be something I would like. But I checked out Haikyu!! without even knowing what it was about either and discovered my love for sports anime.

People would post in the Haikyuu!! episode comment thread about how they loved watching both shows every Sunday morning. I eventually decided to look at a description for Baby Step, discovered it was about tennis and immediately caught up.

i wouldn't say i "refused" to watch Gintama, because i love comedy, but i definitely had to push myself through the first 20 episodes or so. Now I totally love it and even own a few volumes of the Japanese manga

Kill la Kill! At first the fan service disturbed me a ton, but i ended up forcing myself to watch those parts of the episodes, and even though i still dont like the fan service, i can say that the rest of the story is crazy amazing (IMO) and now i love the show ^_^
