Ping Pong the Animation for sure. At first, it was the weird MS Paint art that left me distant from the anime. The art isn't such a big deal after watching a couple of episodes. The strongest point was the amazing opening and the development of Kong and Smile. I'm glad I gave it a chance.

Toradora is another recent one that I refused to watch. I decided to gave it a try the other day and I ended up LOVING every second of it.

Your gif is full of win.

Anyway, mine would be Steins;Gate. At first I thought to myself, "who wants to watch a show about time travel? Too much theory and explanation. I probably won't get it." Then the summer break came and I got bored, so I gave one episode a shot and now here I am, the girl who enjoyed watching Stein;Gate. And yes, there were some theories I didn't understand and ended up glazing over, but it didn't ruin the greater suspense of the show.

Probably the most notable one would be higurashi. But there are tons I could name. I was actaully fairly open to all genres from the start except for really the really violent ones and really sexy ones, but now not as much opposed to them.

lol thanks.

I agree with Steins;gate, I watched the first episode when it first aired and dropped it after the first few minutes. because I didn't like the narrator's speech... it sounded too cheesy.

but last year, gave it another try, sat through the cheesy monologue and love the series.

I'm a huge hater of One Piece, mostly because I just don't like the art style and think it looks to cartoony. But every now and again i'll watch an episode or two, and although I still hate the art style the actual content itself is pretty interesting and enjoyable.

Also, not anime related, but I was extremely against watching The Walking Dead because everyone was talking about it and I thought it was just going to be a cheesy zombie show, because let's face it, most tv shows don't usually have the highest budgets. So once season 5 rolled around I figured eh what the heck, I have Netflix. So I started watching it about a week ago, and ended up enjoying it so much I Pac-Maned my way through all 4 seasons.

I suppose I should have known not to judge a book by it's cover.

anti fandom has never been an issue for me.

i always tried to steer away from shows that appear to only have eichi things pulling it along. but i typically give all series that 1-3 episode buffer though there are a few series that i haven't seen such as high school dxd. i hear its more than pure harem so i do plan to watch it at one point, although theres a large list of anime i would want to watch/ catch up on before i decide to watch it, if i even get around to it.

but mainly i can't watch series that are ancient, if i have never seen it before. i would really want to watch the first mobile suit series, but i'd fall asleep due to the fact that im not used to it.

Parasyte. My friends would talk about how awesome is was and I just didn't have any interest, but to be fair my friends have god awful taste when it comes to anime. I'm loving how the main character is progressing though, it's really interesting to watch him develop.

D. Grey-man, Kuroko No Basket, One Piece

I've seen well over 250 anime and it isn't very often where i struggle with debating to watch a show for a long time or not but each of these 3 took me a long time to decide on. D.Grey-man really put me in a weird spot because I didn't want to start it because I wasn't sure if I'd like it and I knew it left off on a cliffhanger on a manga that was on hiatus and if i did watch it it'd be a pain to deal with it in that sense. It was really enjoyable and I really liked both the dubs and subs for it; I watched the first 51 or so dubbed but that was all that was dubbed so the last 52 were in subs.

Kuroko No Basket was a sports anime so for most people that's reason enough to stay away from it and that was really my only reason too. It had a really high rating on MAL and my friends raved about it but I couldn't understand the appeal of a sports anime but considering i play basketball I probably should have seen why it'd be good. After leaving it on my 'eventually will watch when I'm really bored one day' list I ended up marathoning through it in a few days for both seasons and enjoyed the hell out of it.

One Piece has a million issues for people trying to start it; the first like 150 episodes or so are not in HD and they are dated because One Piece originally started airing in 1999 which older anime can be a turn off to people. The art style is very unique and that can turn people off too, I know I have a friend tell me that all the time she hates the art style and can't bring herself to start it. I gave it a chance almost a year ago and got through Arabasta Arc and still didn't see anything special, I waited about 6 or so months before trying to watch again after friends prodded me to and it was a great decision because I was watching it on CR this time and they brought in like eps 220+ in HD for free users which made the show much easier to watch and appreciate.

dance in the vampire bund. becasue, well, its illegal in canada. disturbing nudity aside, the show is pretty good as of ep 03. the stlye reminds me of cowboy bebop, or the mootogamai series. never had a problem with loli's tho this one is...ugh. i'm torn. love the scene transistions and how the flash backs are handeled.
