what do you think happens to us after we die? or is it that you believe we are not supposed to know what happens to us after we die?
if you are not an atheist your opinions are welcome but, if you have different beliefs can you state them at the bottom of your post for example

It's called Nihilism, nothing happens to you after death, absolutely nothing.

I'm not an atheist, but...

It depends. Not believing in a god or gods does not preclude disbelief in the existence of an afterlife. Examples?
- Buddhism and Jainism in most traditional forms are atheistic and believes in continued existence after death through the cycle of reincarnation.
- Classical Confucianism texts discuss the existence of a "heaven" like state after death, but do not discuss worship of a deity.
- Unitarian Universalists believe in individual searches for truth and are not bound by belief in deity, but may believe in an afterlife despite not believing in a deity.

So, in the end, the answer is - it depends.

EDIT: As requested by the OP: I'm a Christian.

I believe nothing happens, if I'm cremated I turn to ash, if I'm buried I will be a bountiful feast for the worms.

An Atheist doesn't believe there is any higher power or afterlife.

Those aren't forms of atheism, they're forms of pantheism...

In a true basic sense of the word, atheism means a lack of belief in a deity. As opposed to theism which believes a deity or multiple deities exist. The lack of belief in a god or gods in these religions does, by definition, make them atheist.

While some Buddhists may be pantheists, not all are. As I mentioned, some are purely atheists. I knew a Buddhist who fell into that category. Disbelief in deities does not equate to disbelief in the spiritual.

Athiest: "a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods". Everything else is window dressing.

i do not worship any deity but their existence on the other hand is a given in my opinion. the fact alone that there are people in this world who believe in their existence, manifests their existence. (if that makes any sense ). i don't believe in heaven but i do believe in reincarnation. what does that make me? just wandering.

I'm no atheist, but I don't really care if god is real or imaginary.

That's a fun couple of questions..
if you are atheist what do you believe? - personally, I believe that this is my one life, and there are no higher powers. This leads to a lot of other conclusions, like I should work to make the world a better place (since there's no perfect afterlife to go to, I have to do all I can in this one to make things better for everyone as I can), that kind of thing. But not all atheists believe the same thing, any more than all theists believe the same thing.

What do you think happens to us after we die? - again, personally, I hope that my organs are used to help others who can use them, or that anything left goes to medical students to practice on. Other than that, my component atoms will continue on, being recycled from one thing to another, possibly into other people later, or maybe rocks, or the ocean.

Athiests do not believe in god. However an atheist does not denounce the possibility of the existence of a god (only fundamentalists atheists denounce any possibility)

I am an atheist in the sense i do not believe in god as their is no supportive evidence to prove there is a god; however i do not denounce the possibility that there could be a god since we also can not disprove it. We simply do not know.

Atheism is the pursuit of knowledge through science and factual evidence in order to understand the universe around us without relying on "we dont know, so therefor god".

According to some sciency stuff, when you die your brain releases a ton of chemicals that pretty much makes you trip out to ease the pain of dying, that's why when people that believe in god die and are revived think they went to heaven.

After death my body is going to go into the earth, and all my remaining energy is going to fuel the plants and creatures that live there, giving back what they gave to us to help us live, so that they may live, to help us live some more (well, not me. I'll be dead lol)

As far as what do I believe now? I believe in myself, I believe in humankind. I believe in nature. I believe in Life. People often say "if you don't believe in god then what's the point of living?" And I thought that was the stupidest thing i had ever heard. There's so much to live for in this world, friends, family, love, happiness.

My question to them is: If you DO believe in God then what's the point of living? I mean, all you're trying to do anyway is get to heaven, why not just save yourself the wait? When you get baptized you're supposed to be cleansed of all your sin right? So why not just get baptized and die so you can instantly go to heaven?

It's sort of hard to say what all atheists believe in, because we don't all believe in the same thing. We just happen to NOT believe in the same thing
