I've been able to watch anime perfectly fine on the app for about a 6 months. Yesterday, after watching 2 episodes of anime on my iphone, I suddenly get an error saying "video player error- the operation could not be completed". I was not at home at the time so I tried again at home and had the same issue and with any video I choose. I have deleted and reloaded the app onto my iphone and the issue persists. I have a premium membership.

Any ideas on what's happening?

This is currently an ongoing and unaddressed issue that they're being rather coy about. I think maybe all of their tech engineers on SR duty are being held hostage somewhere, is why all is mum. LOL

This is driving me crazy. They should at least notify the public that something is wrong. We are paying for this!

I agree. Its affecting all non-computer devices as far as I know. A mod has said that dev has been informed and I hope they're working on it.

It seems that Time Warner's DNS service is faulty, which results in Time Warner customers not being able to resolve the IPs of our services properly.

Switching to a public DNS service, such as Google's, should work as a fix.

Discussions about DNS workarounds started on this page. You might find a method that works there. I don't know what kind of device that is s.

Bright House probably uses Time Warner infrastructure.

You should be able to set it in your router or in your computer's network connection properties.

I am currently a premium member trying to watch anime on my ps4. As of a few days ago I can't watch anything. I am assuming it is due to crunchy rolls servers, because I also have Netflix and Hulu and they both work fine. I would appriciate any feedback on this issue to let me know what's going on and also why and when I will have my service back.

I asked my husband about if Bright House uses Time Warner for DNS (he telecommutes for Oracle) and he said no, they do not.

I will try watching the app at different WiFi provider locations where I know they do not use Bright House and see what happens. If it still doesn't work I will let you know. I will check my iPhone also, and try to stream via T-Mobile for a moment, with WiFi turned off.

EDIT: Confirmed that the app on the iPhone ran once WiFi was turned off (streaming on 4G T-Mobile). We decided to change the DNS for each device (not the router) from a local to an open DNS. The app now runs from the iPad on WiFi at home, this way. I regret to inform that pretty much every WiFi I attempted around town met with the same issue, and since it isn't feasible to request from every outlet to change their DNS settings (I guess Bright House has a bit of a monopoly down here) I hope this error gets resolved soon, for CR's sake.

Crunchyroll found me the problem. The problem was the DNS you have to change it: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220

Bright House is selling you a TWC line. It has Road Runner written all over it even now.
Run your own IP through a whois on the internet (for example: http://www.tcpiputils.com/browse/ip-address) for confirmation.
