What do you think about public marriage proposals?

By public i mean like when you go to a Baseball game or a concert etc and somebody set it up so they can do this big public proposal and people clap and cheer whatever. I think it's kind of cruel to force somebody into that situation where they look horrible if they say no. Of course it has happened which then completely humiliates the person who was rejected but should they have done it in a way that tries to force the answer they want? Because that's what it seems like "Oh she;'ll never turn me down in front of thousands of people". I think something so personal should be done in private.

So what do you think? Have you ever proposed in such a way? Would you? Would you feel more inclined to say yes in that kind of situation?

Lala thinks they're cute, but at the same time calculative and deceptive. It's difficult to reject a proposal in front of hundreds of people.

I get really jealous of public displays of affection, So any marriage proposal that I see, I want it to end very badly. Either that or I want to be allowed to throw furniture at them such as chairs, a table, book case, whatever is at hand.

Honestly, it makes me tear up. I'm sappy like that.

...But, I would get a kick out of it if they were rejected.

I'd probably go with the flow and accept the proposal, then do everything in my power to find a way out of the situation over the next couple of months. While making excuses to postpone the wedding date, I'd secretly inform all my friends, family, and neighbors that it's not happening, and act it all out until I find the right timing so that I can fly as far away from the bride as possible so that she doesn't come and kill me.

They're a pretty risky gambit that can leave the person being proposed to furious that they were put on the spot like that. I'd feel so pressured, for sure.

The one who proposed takes all the responsibility in the situation. The person being proposed to should feel no pressure to actually accept the proposal. I would actually have a lot of respect for a woman who could say 'no' under those circumstances.

Not a fan, It's ostentatious and inconsiderate. Making a spectical out of intimate moment just seems wrong.

Never witnessed something like that, so I'm not sure how i would react. If it happened to me, i would probably say no. One girl one time asked two of her friends to ask me if i wanted to be in a relationship with her. I said no with the plainest look on my face, how she felt by my response, i have no idea. If she can't even ask me herself, why should i bother?
