survival without anything with retard prices?
Posted 12/19/14
Well, I read of the most common answers related to this - 9.99 vs 10 - and how some think its rude to the customers in researching what you meant. I also heard that a $9.99 item is taxed as a $9 item and $10 is, indeed, taxed as a $10 item. People have said how it essentially allows sellers to keep the extra pennies that would otherwise go to the government (selling at essentially $10, but not $10), but another way to see it is they are saving the customer a few pennies as well. Both parties benefit.

To be honest, I heard the second explanation all my life. I'd clean up your posts, by the way.

I honestly did not get what you're trying to say so I'm just going to nod.

Ok thanks, I checked that about word "retard" and that seems to be a sensitive matter so I edited that out, although I can't edit subject, so please, moderators, either edit it or just delete this thread, it's not like we'll miss it lol

Cashier: "I don't have exact change. If you have a penny, I can give you a whole change."

You: --Meticulously looking for one--

"Great. When you need one on the floor, it's not there. People practically throw away unwanted pennies."

I've been guilty of walking away from penny change. I don't do it any more ever since I left a shop and the shopkeeper chased me down to give my my penny change. I found that more embarrassing than waiting and collecting a penny. In the Caribbean people are embarrassed to wait on a penny change and will walk away leaving it behind. Shopkeepers there come to expect that so they get a little bonus that'll eventually add up with lots of customers. A penny/cent there is less in value than in the UK so I understand dismissing them unless finances are extremely dire.

Lol thanks
I found a temporary peace of mind by imagining such prices are set by really really greedy seller who has to offer a discount! Ɑ: Doesn't fix it but makes it more funny

ahhhhh, in the land of Pirates it's always a Bloody Friday. they don't have any other days and operate by amending the dates in secrecy... i shouldn't probably be talking about this but it's common knowledge as you are well aware. their freedom to spread their services is being threatened ridiculous sanctions. conformity is on course i'm afraid.
