I found that what shinryou, lykocreator, and Mattumanu have written in these forums worked out as a viable solution to the problem in my case.

I have Apple TV and also stream Crunchyroll through the iPad app. My ISP is Time Warner Cable.

In my case, TWC uses Netgear as its router and when I logged in and reset it to Google's DNS (Primary 8.8.8.8. and Secondary 8.8.8.4), not only was the problem fixed, but my apps worked SO MUCH FASTER than before. Crunchyroll's videos loaded instantly.

I'm aware that this solution may not work for everyone, but there's no harm in giving this a try if you've got TWC and Netgear as your router.

I still find it weird that it stopped working the very next time I saw the crunhyroll app was updated. Is this really a coincidence? We don't have time warner in our area and I confirmed a friend's crunchyroll also stopped working for them.

Really wanted to catch up on some of the anime that's about to go away but I'll have to see if I can make any sense of some of the instructions here after the holidays and pray the anime is still there long enough to be watched (without ignoring life). I really hate messing with settings I only understand a small percent off. XD I won't even change my wifi password with a typo because it was such an enormous headache to set up.

Part of me is still praying this will fix itself......

Bright House is TWC with a different name slapped upon it. The solution listed here should work for you.

Seems like the problem has fixed itself. Went back to my old settings today and Crunchy Roll is streaming just fine.

If it was the Time Warner DNS problem, that indeed should be fixed now:

Didn't quite "fix itself", that'd would have been nice.

Thanks for the confirmation that it is working again.

I guess TW fixed their issue or was it something you guys did?

It keeps happening to my PS3 and I don't even have time warner. Tried all the advice posted, but no luck. This is very disappointing.

Edit: what is happening is the low quality of the video, and it freezes and crashes on almost everything episode I watch.

The TWC DNS issue was cleared up last week or so. CR suffered a massive DDoS attack that they are still recovering from. so that is likely the cause for your current problem.

Why am I paying for Crunchyroll? I have friends over to watch anime via the PS3 app and every episode, is low quality, freezes and skips to the next episode for no reason. It kinda ruined our night. Thanks Crunchyroll.
I tried all the "fixes". No luck. And it's not the TWC issue because I have Comcast/Xfinity.

I too have the problem, but like the previous poster, I'm on Comcast and not Time Warner. This started after last week's DDoS attack. On my PS3, I couldn't view Hanasakeru Seishonen or Magic Kaito 1412, but I could view Bleach. Neither worked via Chromecast either. However, I can view these on my laptop browser w/o an issue (yes, same network).

I agree with you 100%. I use my PlayStation as my sole means of television. With netflix being far more reliable and having more and more anime I think I'm going to cancel my premium crunchyroll account. I have had nothing but issues since I've had it. Fanboys please save your breath as there is a serious quality issue with this app. Mind you I am running off of FiOS 50/50 and have had nothing but freezing issues. I reinstalled the app, changed my network settings to do the BS dns "fix" restarted my playstation and reset my router multiple times. It took me over 2 hours to watch a 45 minute episode with all of the crap I have to do just to get it to play. DDOS seems to be the new excuse for when people don't want to put out quality products. Thanks for the headache crunchyroll, I'll pass it along.

CR uses a different CDN for the web browser Flash streams than they do for the streams of devices. Unless they've changed it, Akamai is the CDN for Flash streams and Limelight Networks for the device streams.
