Recently I've been on Crunchyroll quite a lot, and for quite awhile I've been wanting to post really irrelevant topics. but they never really fit into any of Crunchyroll's sections.

And quite frankly I'm sure many of us think the right place to post it would to be in the General forums, but if you go on Google and search of what "General" means this is what you get: affecting or concerning all or most people, places, or things; widespread.

Some of these topics are so far off from the meaning it's hard to believe the Moderators haven't actually tried to make a new section for these topics.

Now as I read these recent topics do not take offense to what I'm doing, this is merely a demonstration.

You're stuck in the last anime you watched what would it be?

How did you discover crunchyroll?
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-870693/how-did-you-discover-crunchyroll

What do you look like?
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-871393/what-do-you-look-like

If you just think for a moment none of these are should really belong in this place, especially when it isn't a topic that's "Affecting or concerning all or most people, places, or things; widespread" which I really question why they end up on the General forums.. but it's not like they have another place to go right?

All the topic links above doesn't belong in Forums Games, Conventions and Meetup, or Extended Discussion, etc.
If there's a in-dept academic place to post things why can't there be place for a lazy, unconventional, and un-astounding things to be posted?

You think I'm wrong in anyway do reason with me, if not please leave a comment agreeing!

We shall call it Off-topic and it shall be ours!

You mean to make a spam board with much lighter rules? If not then there isn't much point seeing as general is basically everything else already. General is our off-topic - it's usually just another word for it. Usually fourms have a general board instead of an off topic one.

I've moved this over to Suggestions / Feedback. For our purposes "General" means anything for which there isn't an existing appropriate forum, so it serves a lot like "Miscellaneous" and can contain quite a range of subjects from frivolous or small-talk type things, to serious discussion of common issues and current events.

Occasionally there are topics where we think an argument can be made for it being in another topic, but it's also not so typical of what the other topic is for that it's not also allowable in general. (The "you're stuck in the last anime you watched..." topic would be one of those.)

I think it was mostly that what you mean by "General" is somewhat different than what we mean by "General" and that to a large extent that means that on Crunchyroll, General Discussion is the right place for "lazy, unconventional, and un-astounding things to be posted."

We have been considering some forum changes and you'll be seeing some of those take place soon. I think one of those changes will partly address what to do with some of these threads that you don't feel belong in General, but for the most part we have been moving toward consolidating forums rather than splitting them up. It's our observation that bigger forums (like General Discussion and Anime) are the liveliest and and that allowing for a wide range of thread types within a large forum makes it easy for people to join in on whatever shows up.
