I've been a big magic the gathering fan for at least 15 years. I haven't played much the last couple years due to being busy with work, college, etc, but once I get going I can play for hours non stop. Im not big on official tournaments, I like to play casual with friends and family.

I like using mill decks, wizard tribal, reanimation, vampire tribal and artifact decks.

Some of my favorite cards are

Master Transmutter,Avatar of Woe, Patron Wizard,Meloku the Clouded Mirror, Iona Shield of Imeria.

Anyone else play magic the gathering?

I quit when U/G Madness rotated out of Standard. I also played that Reanimator variant back then with Buried Alive for Arcanis/Akroma/Anger(/Visara/Something Cat) - wasn't just because a really good cheap deck ($) was out so I was out.

I just really loved U/G Madness. I've always wanted to get my exact Type 2 (then) deck in complete foils. Someone at the place I went to tournaments for had it, even the single City of Brass - 7th - which looked nice since those had black borders ><.... Pretty sure it was 7th anyways. (Oh, not that it is much money compared to many cards - just that devotion to the deck was impressive considering the non-foil deck is like 10 dollars, lol).

Anyways, if I played right now - it would be Affinity for Modern. From what I saw of Affinity, it reminded me of U/G Madness (U/G [Madness] isn't even that good in Legacy for me to play that style there and then Null Rod to stop Affinity and many more anti artifact stuff).

To be honest, I don't like the new modern look of the cards. That's what mostly puts me off.

Nice that Avatar of Woe is one of your favorites though. AoW (Masquerades?) was one of the first rares from that set. Was why I liked Visara so much.

I play from time to time with a couple old friends. I never really keep up with what's new in MTG or what's going on, I only learn about new abilities and stuff when I encounter it in a game, lol.

I tend to play 'racial' decks that are all about pure creature type benefits. My current decks are a red/white knight deck, a black/red vampire deck, and a penta-color sliver deck. If anyone plays 2 engineered plagues and I can't get a destroy enchantment; I essentially lose the game. That's just what I like to do, though.

and you share the namesake of one of my favorite cards, Kamahl Pit Fighter. The druid variant is fine, but come on. Pit Fighter.

Ever checked out the MTG books? Pretty diggity if you like fantasy and MTG lore.

You are correct, it use to be one of my favorite cards so I have used it as my online name for quite some time. I say "use to" because I had to stop using him, that 1 defense was to much of a gamble .Im also into tribal decks, I have a blue/black wizard deck that Ive had for 12 years and update all the time,a vampire deck that can either be white/black or black/red and used samurai's at one point. I haven't read any books, the write ups that came when you bought a deck and the stories/quotes at the bottom of cards were enough for me.Im also really impressed with the art on cards.

I used to. I still have thousands of cards mostly from 2nd through 5th ed, and then 8th through 9th ed. I just got tired of giving money to Wizards of The Cost. Occasionally, I still play the iPad version of the game.
