yeah, I quit Gurren Laggan in the middle of episode 8. I just didn't care about the charecters. I seem to have the same problem with pretty much every mech show though

Fair point. I think that series that aren't part of our preferred genres should be probably denied from making the list.

I'm not a huge mecha fan either. It feels too much like the giant robot is overcompensating for other deficiencies. >.>

That said, they aren't as off putting for myself as the sports series.

Naruto and Naruto Shipuden: too long and, as far as I have heard, too much fillers.
Bleach: the same as Naruto
Fairy Tail: too long and too much fanservice.
Gintama: Actually I have watched the first two episodes but I didn't see the appeal. Also it is too long.
Kill la Kill: because of the fanservice
K-on: too much moe.
Clanand: the same as K-on.
Monogatari Series: because of the fanservice.
The World God only Knows: I don't like harems generally and I don't think that I could stand the main character.
I could be forgeting a few ones.

The two I can think of are Gurren Lagann and Hunter x Hunter, both due to a lack of time rather than a lack of interest. I did find the time to finish Gurren Lagann just recently, though.

I wish I could say SAO and NAruto so I wouldn't have wasted time I will never get back but alas the only ones I know that are popular and I havn't watched and have no interest to is One Piece, Fairy Tale and one anime that probablly get me kicked of Curnchyroll for not seeing yet is Gurren Lagann.

For years that would have been a perfect description of my thoughts about One Piece. i finally broke down and started watching it but currently I've come to a standstill with the Fishman Island arc

So now it's

Fairy Tale
Kill la kill
Bleach
Jo Jos

I have almost no knowledge about these other than they exist and are popular yet I have no desire to watch any of them.

What types of shows do you like? I'm curious.

I have a preference for good scifi (that doesn't rely on mechas) some urban fantasy (if it's creative), and general SF (speculative fiction) type stories. I enjoy comedies of the same ilk, and can do the occasional slice of life. I don't care for high fantasy or sports. Historical drama is ok, but not usually my cup of tea. Horror is ok for anime, and I can usually watch more gorey shows than I can live action. It does need story though. Supernatural elements are nice as well.

I also don't care much for any series over 52 eps, and very few that even reach that many. They typically fall into filler and repetitive arcs. Blood+, FMA, FMA Brotherhood, and Cardcaptor Sakura are good examples of the few anime titles that are very good and can reach the 50+ episode ceiling. More than that, and it just gets repetitive and dull. Typically between 26 and 39 are "ideal". Hell Girl and Natsume's Book of Friends hit about 39 episodes across its seasons, as well as the bakemonogatari series, and it worked perfectly. As such it is very, very rare that I'll go for anything above 50 eps.
