I'll give them credit for at least doing something a *little* bit different with the X-Men premise. It's rare that you see the MC use his powers for such selfish ends; obviously he won't stay that way, but it's a nice change of pace. It's also interesting that their powers are apparently only temporary, and have obvious weaknesses. It probably would have been nice if they'd explained the mechanics of their abilities (If it's teleportation, why does he experience such high velocity? Is her invisibility really just a minor form of psychic power?), but I'm sure they'll explain that eventually if it actually turns out to be important.

Overall, it didn't quite have the same hook that the first episode of Angel Beats! had, but the character designs are pretty nice, and I'm always in for more Jun Maeda music. It's a decent start, and most Maeda works get better as they go along, so I'm probably in for the length of the show.

I wasn't blown away by this either. Interesting enough to continue watching but not hooked solidly yet. Hope it improves.

Good episode. The main character was a huge jerk, but they cut him down to size enough that it was amusing rather than annoying. So, far the characters seem likable enough. Not sure where it is going, but it has been enjoyable so far. Also, I enjoyed Angel Beats so I will probably like this.

Episode 1

That's a great way to start things off there. Yu is such an arrogant jerk there using his ability to momentarily possess others to cheat and do all sorts of dirty things. But then he gets totally owned by Tomori there and he is forced to not only transfer schools, but travel is restricted seeing that he and his sister move to where the new school is. Key and PA make quite a formidable combination.

Most vulgar main character in Key history? I think that's a pretty accurate description.

Same here. I didn't think this was a bad episode by any means, but there really hasn't been much to really grab me for the long-run (though I do find it interesting how much of two-faced jerkwad Yu is compared to other MCs I've seen recently). Depending on the next episode, I'll either stick to this week-to-week or marathon at my own pace when it finihses(though seeing as it'll likely have an overarching story, likely the latter).

This was a great episode, because Yu's little sister. Actually, it was a good start, and I'll look forward to this. I mean, when the main character dons a rubber nose with glasses, what can possibly go wrong?

Oh key ...

What else? Cute loli is cute. A lot of painfully true lines this episode, even if the ones in the opening scene almost made me throw up my dinner. Great main character. Not gonna lie, that's exactly what I would do if I got that kind of powers. Not the number one student thing, wouldn't really bother with that too much, but except that it's pretty accurate. I like him, great to see that our MC is not the standard nice guy.

Oh, and I am sure that this whole "forgotten sibling" thing will never be mentioned again.

Well that was a bit of an unusual MC. He seemed quite frankly amoral. Having no issues putting people into danger just for the sake of wooing them expediently without having to put in any actual work. And in that regard he strikes me as quite superficial. He want all the status and glory. But doesn't want to put the work into it . Using an ability that allows him to control someone else for 5 seconds.

But the jig is quickly up as there' a school full of kids like him. And the student council moves after him, beating him up in the process (since he does resist) And learn one has .. not what i'd call a teleport since he seemed to just be moving in a straight line like a projectile. And the ability to appear invisible to someone else. The girl with that ability also has a thing for recording with a camera it seems.

He is transferred to the other school, we learn he has a little sister. Lively and all that, likes looking at stars. There are indications of a third sibling, a divorce and a mother dumping the responsibility on an uncle (most likely her brother i guess)

They then move into the new place, the student council comes to help, friction occurs.

Also a small scene where he tries to explain himself to the other girl. Girl turns very cold towards him. Understandably. A lesson in that what he had gained through his powers was fickle.

Seems interesting i suppose.

Guessing the different powers are somehow manifestations of desires of the different characters to overcome some kind of trauma or issue or what not. Guessing his is in relation to the other brother. Seeing as his ability involves controlling others. I am guesing the other guy killed himself, thus causing the family to break up and him developing that power in an attempt to understand others.

Or something like that anyways.

We'll see i guess.

Not very impressed by the first episode. Bland, uninspired, overly dramatic, scumbag mc, and it borrows quite a bit from Medaka Box.

6/10 so far. God I am gonna quit simulcasts for a while. Shit Japan puts out has been getting worse.

First episode was interesting, I'll be following it.

It will likely get much better once we're introduced to Professor X's school for gifted youngsters.

E1

I, Yu vi Britannia, order you to die

I liked it so far - bit of an X-Men vibe. A full 24 min episode without an OP or ED.

The MC was selfish, granted, but we'd all do the same really - screw using powers for other people's benefits. Personally, I find it refreshing that he's different to the expected - he eventually gets shot down. I'm sure his character will turn around after some "harsh" lessons.

Teleportation is probably a guise to hide the fact that it's really super speed. Perhaps the guy intended for the lie to serve as a "I can always find you" threat.

As for the missing third person - he's either dead, or is missing from their memories via a super power, which also raises the question of if siblings are likely to have it as well. Expect it to have an emotional impact.

I am worried that it will be another Angel beats, given than it's only one cour

This is the only anime of the entire brand new Summer 2015 Simulcast series line-up on here that I am watching, and I am very proud of that fact because I am already well and truly hooked after just the first episode as I knew I would be
