I like to check out spoiler comments after an episode to talk about what happened but the fact that a large number of shows have spawned from manga, light novels, and the like make the spoiler warning cover multiple things. Sometimes it means what happened in the episode and sometimes it means how the show is going to end. It's ruined more than one show for me, more or less forcing me out of comment section. How does everyone avoid this?

Honestly I kind of want to ask Crunchyroll to put in some sort of differentiation between episode spoilers and source material spoilers but I'm not sure where to go for it (not for lack of trying)

Hi,

Moved this over to Suggestions / Feedback for you, it seemed more appropriate since it is a site issue.

We on the mod side agree, how to rate spoiler-ish-ness of comments is a tough thing, with some people innocently forgetting to mark something, some people trying to use their comments to encourage others to view the manga or LN, and some people intentionally spoiling things because they think that's fun, for some odd reason.

Some people think that a comment about the end of the episode needs to be spoilered; others think that anything that's been aired (say, from episode 870) is fair game to discuss in any episode.

No matter how it shakes out, my advice to everyone is - if you might have a show ruined for you because of spoilers, avoid the comments on the show until you're done. No matter what we make the rules, people will sometimes intentionally ignore them, and often accidentally ignore them. I know that sounds harsh, but it's unfortunately the way things are

We mark things as spoilers as soon as we see them, or when they're reported, and try to keep things as clean as possible in the comments sections, but if we don't know to mark something, it might be that one item you never wanted to see.

Thx for the move, For some reason I just couldn't spot the right section.

I get that you can't make everyone do the right thing lol. It's not what I'm trying to ask.

I'm just asking crunchyroll to consider making a more clear way for the comment poster to indicate what type of spoiler the post is. For instance let the spoiler button indicate what happens in the current episode and have an extra button indicate a source material spoiler. I figure due to anime storylines being in manga or LNs half the time before it would be a nice addition.

One workaround people posting could use themselves would be to make a comment stating something like "MANGA SPOILER:" (in the clear), and then reply to their own comment with their spoiler (marked as such).

Of course, that only works if they aren't replying to someone else, as CR's comment system only allows a single tier of replies.

Yeah, that still relies on people actually using the system, unfortunately I totally agree, it would be nice - maybe color coding and an icon to show book (LN), sketch outline (manga), full color (anime) as well. Would be great to see, and fantastic if people used it. But, that's why I moved it - it's a good idea for a site improvement!
