Recently ive been watching anime on my Vita, and its just so frustrating that theres many small animes that are really great and just have to end why cant they last 50-100 episodes or even more. What i expect of anime sometimes seems like a wasted wish, that is lost on a void. I know that eventually even SAO ine of my current favorites will join all those other short anime. HERES HOPING IM WRONG!

Anime need to end. One of my biggest issues with long running series is they drag on extremely long when they should have ended ages ago. (Naruto is a perfect example of this)

Sometimes the truth is simple. I can't expect anime to be anything but itself.

if you can imagine them going further. you should write down your thoughts and ideas and mail it to them.
having expectations usually means you have the imagination to back it up. otherwise, there is no need for it.

Cause usually good anime with plots end , no matter how successful or what, the plot needs to end, perhaps it will get a sequel but it cant last long of being what it is

unlike shonen jump anime that has to last as long as it can before it gets axed because public interest drops or the author simply cant pump out more crap out from his crack to satisfy himself and the company with paycheck
but of course not all jump are like that...

Eyeshield 21 is up on Crunchyroll, watch it on your Vita.

It's got a good head on it's shoulders, sporting a good 100 Episodes of content and 40 episodes of filler bullshit. It's very hard to tell which is which, but the Training Arc is real bro. THE TRAINING ARC IS REAL, SHIT GOES DOWN BRO SHIT GOES DOWN.

I agree with Pearsauces. I strongly prefer a series leaving me wanting more (e.g. FLCL, Berserk) than the ones that go nowhere and take forever to get there (e.g., Bleach, Inuyasha).

This might be my first post, I don't usually drop in the forums here but I was a little bored.

What I expect of anime?

Like what my standards are and what I'll hold every anime I ever watch to?

Honestly it's a tough question because sometimes I don't know I'll like something until I start watching it. It always happened that way for my "guilty pleasure" anime's like echi/very "fan service" based, I would start watching to waste some time and expect to not bother with episode 2. I usually end up on episode 5 before I realise.

That aside, I always expect anime to take advantage of it's medium. It allows to create worlds that would be too expensive or impossible to create, it allows to create settings that can be sold more believably due to it's consistency. I don't mind anime that re-hashes anime tropes so much, but I dislike it when they don't add their own flair or don't bring anything unique to the table at all. I love the current anime industry because quite often they know this and right now there's so many shows with so much variety it's hard choosing one to settle down with for the time being because another recommendation sounds a little bit better!

That brings me to what some people are talking about in this thread; how animes end and I think this is a strong topic because recently I've been getting annoyed at unfinished series. Being invested in a world then have it abruptly taken with no closure at all, then reading about how the studio didn't sell it so well and wont finish it is quite annoying. I understand their need to drop certain series and although it's a pain it makes finding a series that handles closure well a gem. Yes I could go read the manga or light novel, I do this often, however the problem with this is that in my subjective opinion these mediums are actually worse for telling a story. I.e. A manga panel was badly structured, who said that line? Oh it wasn't the protagonist it was someone off screen. Light novels do this a bit as well, I'm reading tate no yuusha no nariagari LN and Manga, the manga is fantastic right now but the Light Novel frequently has the "who said that" problem. Besides I watched the anime first and having an active imagination I sometimes break the illusion by imagining how a character has said something, then I disagree with myself. I agree I prefer to want to see more of these characters when a series has ended. You get to a point where you understand how these characters think and interact yet they always find some way to surprise you.

Goddamn I wrote all that before I realised how much time I'd wasted. It's a slow anime day today.

TL;DR: I expect my animes to surprise me, take advantage of the medium and have good enough closure that even if I want more I feel it wouldn't add anything. I'd say I'm going to do something more interesting right now but I'll probably just close this tab and head back to reddit.
