The video's do not buffer. They stream as the video is playing in order to save the quality.

The video only loads where you are at.

Some people have better luck with playback using Google's Public DNS or OpenDNS instead of their ISP's defaults.

this is liek a repost of the thread i started about that lag. and i don't care what anyone else says, its not skipping.. its simply stopping and taking forever to play more then stopping again. Thats LAG.. means there servers are Overloaded usualy. or possable ddos attacks that they are not reporting

Or it might be that your ISP's DNS borks some random request and occasionally doesn't send a response ...

Flash with DRM causes the file to be sent in small chunks (of at most a few minutes), and retrieves each next chunk just in time to queue and play it. Each chunk of the file has a new DNS lookup request associated with it. So if the DNS server in play isn't 100% reliable, even if it is 99.9% reliable, then the video can freeze at some random spot in the middle of playing. That's why picking a different, public, DNS server for your router (or individual device) can sometimes solve the issue.

Since Akamai seems to point your connection based on the location of the DNS server and not on your physical IP address, which other CDNs do based on the originating packet, you may have to try a few different ones to configure one that works well in practice for you, so blindly picking one of Google or open DNS may work or even neither may work.

You might try to play with this tool a bit, it will give you 30 or so public DNS servers and benchmark the fastest and most reliable ones from where you are, but be aware that just picking the fastest one isn't always the best one in real use, thus needing to possibly try out more than one.

https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm

If after several different attempts, you still can't find one that helps, then it's probably a different issue.

But you see, it's not just a simple thing trying to assign blame or find the real cause. Checking DNS is just one of the possible points of failure. There are lots of hops between the CDN CR uses and your ISP. And just because you have a good connection for the last leg from your ISP to you, doesn't mean the whole trip didn't have a bad road somewhere between there and the CDN.

Yeah, it's not connection issues on our end, every other streaming service is working fine, this seems to be an issue with Crunchyroll in the past year or so. The really need to start investing more money in servers, especially while they are gaining more subscriptions, during some parts of the days its fine, other times it absolutely horrible; that tells me it is a traffic issue.
