Growing up we all listened to Pat Benatar, Heart, Madonna, the Runaways (Joan and Lita solo too), Girlschool, Lee Aaron, Doro Pesch, and Vixen among others so rocking out to a female singer doesn't seem unusual at all to me. I admit fully to preferring a female voiced singer to a male one (eventhough I listen to both). My father was the same way. He's the one who introduced me to Dusty Springfield, Etta James, Shirley Bassey, Lesley Gore and Petula Clark. I honestly feel this is why I consider Rei Yasuda, Haruka Tomatsu, Aimer, LiSA and Nano some of my all-time favorite anime-related vocalists/Seiyuu. Ironically, my mother and her sisters all prefer male singers.

I guess I did word that a little strangely.... I guess what I was trying to say is it doesn't really matter if whoever your listening to is a guy or a girl, as long as you like the voice of that person who is singing, or the music that is playing along with the persons voice, it really doesn't matter who it is that you are listening to as long as you enjoy it. The part I said about being gay wasn't supposed to imply anything, I just used it as a way to say that (like my original point in the reply) as long as you like it, it's fine. I do however agree with you that it was out of the blue lol. I was shutting of my computer for the night when I saw this topic and just wanted to leave my thoughts real quickly before going to bed so I said it without thinking. Sorry if I offended you

I grew up listening to female artists like Nelly Furtado, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Fergie, Lady Gaga, Avril Lavigne, and many more. I still enjoy listening to music produced by females like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding (especially her), Charli XCX, Beyonce, Selena Gomez (2013 & 2014) and many more. I don't think there's nothing wrong with a guy listening to female musicians, in fact guys like this have good taste in music.

Why does it matter? Why do you have to associate music with gender?

Why do you have to associate ANYTHING with gender????

Why can't we all just like something without being wrongly accused for something we're enjoying because of oUR GENDER???

This isn't something I really think about. If the music is good, I'm listening to it, regardless of who is singing.

If a girl was listening to a male musician, would you still think it's weird?

why do some men get soooo insecure about listening to female musicians? using female avatars in a game? wearing female clothing?

Doing these things don't take away your penis or the fact that you're male... lolololol.

I sometimes listen to female singers. I had a time where I was all about P!nk. Male or Female it depends on the voice. Some female singers' voices vastly annoy me so I don't listen to them. Some male vocalists try too hard so I don't listen to them.

I don't see how gender affects the music, it's more about the demographic it's directed towards. Taylor Swift is alright but I feel like her music is directed towards a teen/mostly female audience. There are many other female artist that direct their music towards a wider audience, like Adelle, Ellie Goulding, SIa, Iggy Azalea, to name a few. I personally have always enjoyed Shakira's music.

I'm a guy and I listen to anime music in my car. If anyone has a problem with it I really don't care. I don't like people who blast hard rock or rap music in their car, but I understand everyone has their own tastes (even though those people deserve the loss of hearing they are going to get). My songs include: K-On!, K-On!!, Full Metal Alchemist, Anohana, Clannad, Clannad After Story, Ghost in the Shell, etc. Almost all of them are songs by a female vocalist.
