Needed to get my Hard Surface modelling skills back up to scratch so I took on a project for the night. I decided to do Kirito's Photon Sword. I didn't really want to make this a material exercise and Marmoset doesn't have a bloom render-pass so the blade was never going to look top notch but I did my best to make the whole thing look presentable. I mostly care about the hilt though.

A bit closer to the hilt with the blade still out:

Finally the hilt with no blade:

Other side:

Challenge complete. Onto my main projects next *gulp*.

Edit: I didn't expect the images to overflow, will fix. Fixed.

Nicely done! I've been toying with a model of that myself on and off for fun, but yours looks way better

Haha, nah, I'll never hit that level. I only model to send it over to my 3D carver. My models tend to look like this:

Not impressive as art like yours at all, just enough to get the polygons into my hands

That's still really decent! I like the fleur de lis on there.

You're comparing your low poly to my high poly which is pretty unfair to you because high poly's are always going to look better. Besides, I've put mine in a nice render engine to show it off, if you did the same it would look excellent as well
