What do you grow?
I grow a few peppers and lots of tropical plants.

Well, three years ago, I joined a local community garden and now kinda am in charge of the place. I also lost a job then and began doing lawn and garden maintenance in my "spare" time as a supplement to my other jobs.

So I primarily have grown vegetables and some flowers. Last year I did a beautiful carnation like petunia that ended up at the local park and police station after they didn't do so well during a sale we hosted. I've done irises from corms and tupips from bulbs. Peppers, ground cherries, LOTS of different tomatoes, and various other vegetables. Grew artichokes up here in zone 6 from seed. XD

Even more impressive, for me anyhow, was getting some Belamcanda to grow from seed (relative to irises, it's usually done from corms)

In a few months, I'll be starting up again with my grow lights.

Here's a few pics of my setup and stuff that I grew last year.

I've also attempted growing mushrooms:

Mind you also, the garden pics are in the spring/early summer when it looks its best, rather than when it becomes a weedy mess

and the inside growing stuff is also when it looks its best, and not the few weeks before sales, when I'm fretting around trying to figure out what to do because my plants have all swamped my growing area and are starting to need pruning.

I've never tried tropicals. It's just not warm enough around here, and my apartment fluctuates with the season as to the temperature. And although I can grow normal stuff, I do have a bit of an absentmindedness on occasions.

I AM, however, thinking of trying to start some blueberry and raspberry bushes from seed, and maybe a tree or two, just for shits and giggles. I mean, basically, it's just a few seed and dirt. The rest of it is basically watching life find its way, and giving it just a little it of tlc when its needed.

It's also just a fascination with living things. I also do some brewing from time to time (mainly ciders) and ferment cabbage for homemade kimchi. It's just all really fun. Even when you fuck it up, you get interesting results, and you learn something.
