I'd recommend Shin Sekai Yori. It's on crunchyroll too.

Let's customize your portfolio, get you going in a direction that you personally enjoy. Now, I see that you're interested in titles like Code Geass and have historically enjoyed adventure series like Pokemon, Digimon, and martial arts comedies like Dragon Ball. Of these titles which would you say you enjoyed the most? Are there any you couldn't see yourself going back to?

blood C, mystery/action. hot vampire chick. (no sparkles!) dont listen to what they say about it.

That show is kind of odd. Because it is boring as hell for the first 5 episodes then when shit hits the fan it becomes like the most awesome thing ever for the last 7 episodes.

There is one thing I must add though. If anyone chooses to watch Blood C they may get confused about the dog character... That dog character and a part of the story may not make much sense unless you watch xxxHolic. If you have seen xxxHolic however, it all makes sense just by hearing the dog's voice.

QTAC - Added to the queue! It had me at ‘cursed power’!

BlueOni- That sounds fun! I think Code Geass has to be my favourite. It's very character driven, and has many a plot twist. If I had to rank the others, it would go Digimon, Monster Rancher, Dragonball and then Pokemon - in that order. I feel like pokemon may be a bit too predictable, so I probably wouldn't enjoy it today.

If I can compare anime to what I look for in comics, it's all about the characters, and the surprising/shocking moments. Magic/powers is also fun. If you can make something out of that mess of a profile, you are a miracle worker ^^!

MartianMage - Thanks for this. I think you're right about the popular stuff. A quick google tells me that Sword Art Online looks promising, as do the others!

If you're really into magic/powers and surprising/shocking moments... then yeah you should check out Madoka Magica... I won't give out too much but I'll just say that PMMM is a psychological show...

there's also the older title Death Note... it aired at the same year as Code Geass and is also quite popular... this one is a psychological thriller so yeah this is probably up your alley...

Search for things that you might like to find in a show/series/whatever and go from there.

Two titles here.
These are which I call the worst I have seen. I would recommend staying as far away as you can.
Then again if you want to spend 12 episodes laughing at the idea that someone actually gave money to make these it's ok.

Seikoku no Dragonar: It should be a show about people fighting while riding dragons, but it's pretty much boobs and tentacles with some romance as bad as one could possibly imagine forced in.

Saikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiinda ga.: The worst anime I have ever seen. While the broXsis romances have great potential even if they're not blood-related (this is one of those), this anime destroys that potential in the very first episode, then proceeds to jump on the remains for 11 more episodes. Most of it is about the sister getting into multiple suicide inducing situations and the anime trying to make it look funny.

Please run, anime itself is cancerous and nothing but a giant ball and chain.

If I could escape, I would. Unfortunately, all I can do is warn the young ones.

You might like No Game No Life. I mean, that's what you young people watch, right? (I honestly don't like the show, in fact, I hate it. HATE IT.

Hi there I've been in your shoes before so I'll say this. Every season there is gonna be one jewel and you need to find yours but I'll help as for a list of animation that you can't miss.

There is a few classics you can start with such as Berserk, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Gungrave.

For your personal taste as you loved code geas:

-Death Note
-Angel beats
-Bakemonogatari
-Guilty Crown
-Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
-Fullmetal Alchemist and brotherhood
-Eureka Seven
-Accel World
-Fate series including stay night and zero etc..
-Sword art online
-Juuni Kokki aka The twelve kingdoms

Let me know if you like any of them ^_^

Some good anime has already been recommended.
From crunchyroll's catalog I would recommend Rurouni Kenshi
Some of my favorites that are not on crunchyroll would be:
Tenchi Muyo!
Yu Yu Hakusho
Hellsing
Hellsing Ultimate
Kenichi the Mightest Disciple
Outlaw Star
Anime itself is not really a genre; just a medium so the kind of shows you like outside of anime may help others give you better recommendations.

No GITS:SAC?

wow.

Go for Monster if you're after mysterious plot twists. Out of what's already been mentioned, Death Note and Valvrave the Liberator are probably the closest you'd get to Code Geass. Another one I'd recommend is Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
