I don't really know, I have crappy internet so I usually stick with SD, haha. But the 1080 does get all laggy, true.

Lol yeah, 480p is already laggy anyway, lol.

I play at 1080p and its fine except for rarely I'll be in the middle of a show and it just freezes. I have to usually back out of full screen and reload the browser page to get it to continue.
Luckily its rare, but it SUCKS when its right at a good part of a show!

CR's player has never been great, at least in my experience. If you pause a video for five minutes and start playing it again, it'll freeze within a minute.

That's the only issue I've seen, however. Choppy video is usually only due to my internet speed. I have a little dual-core laptop running Ubuntu that I play videos at 1080p on, and they're smooth as silk. Long as I don't pause the video for too long.

This.

They've been messing with all sorts of stuff. Don't worry, it'll be for the better eventually.

Your location may also play a roll with the quality of the stream. Your distance to the server that hosts the video, and the traffic to said server will affect performance.
I'm in Metropolitan South Australia and I'm getting great performance on 1080p, though, I suspect CR's Australian servers are hosted by Internode, the exact same ISP that I'm with.

Im having the same problem with when you pause for 30sec then come back, the player would freeze after a 1 minute or so. I live in Canada and I'm very close to my wifi router and my internet bars are full so I don't think I have a slow connection specially when I can play 1080p in youtube, funimation and netflix hd no problem. My laptop has a video card of 1GB and a speed of 2.5Ghz with boost 2.8Ghz and all of my drivers are updated. So I don't really think my laptop is slow to fail rendering the 1080p on CR.

I'm currently under 7 proxies, so everything I do online is slow. Anyhow, when I turn then off then I've never gotten any slow downs on CR.

Yeah, CR has been pretty laggy and at times the video freezes. Most of the time, backtracking a little does the trick, but sometimes I need to hit the refresh button.

I keep hearing this every time I hop on the forums once a month. Their player is and always will be crap.

I wish they would switch to a player that would let you buffer and see buffer progress. Dont think that would lower the quality of their 1080p but it would definitely be better.

Figures it would lag the one time I wanna watch something lol.

I find that this problem goes away if I let the video buffer for a bit and turn off smoothing, but that's a me-specific kind of fix.

...has Sweden become Belarus or something? Why do you need to go through seven proxies?

I haven't been able to watch 1080p on Crunchyroll for awhile. Which is pretty annoying seeing as I paid for a premium membership and am not getting the full benefits. My computer can run full HD fine and my internet is really good so it is something to do with crunchyroll.
