Is banana a fruit or a berry?

It's both, since a berry is a specific type of fruit.

"a berry is a fleshy fruit produced from a single flower and containing one ovary."

And then there's rhubarb which is the exact opposite, to the point that it's actually classed as a fruit in America.

It's a fruit because it doesn't grow in the ground and the seeds are inside of it.

I don't know anymore.

Four years ago I learned that a banana was a vegetable. How the hell is that possible, you ask? I don't know. It's all botanical sh!t. Botanically-speaking, a banana is a vegetable.

Regardless it being a fruit or vegetable, did you know that having tomatoes actually supports the race of humanity from going extinct? Same goes with the corn.

Just kidding. Don't believe anything I say.

All of you who think tomatoes are terrible, you should try an heirloom tomato, right off the vine with some salt.. ER MEH GERSH! lol Or you may already have.. Either way, I respect your opinion in the end.. I would say though, that if you haven't had one, and don't think you like tomatoes, at the very least, try an extremely fresh heirloom with some salt.. I think Bi-colored and Purple/black tomatoes are the best personally..

I would love to have a good tomato....
They sell these hot-house hybrids around here that are gassed and never get ripe.
I'd go for the organics but $5 a pound for a tomato is a little too steep for me.

There used to be a rumor that you shouldn't eat tomatoes.... they are a member of the "nightshade" family... (That's only true about their leaves and studies show that isn't really true.)

They are a fruit but I didn't know that until I was about 15... We always used them in our vegetable soup...

Interestingly potatoes are in the 'nightshade" family as well.....

So are bell peppers, if I am correct.. Or at least, they were thought to be at one point.
