I watched Pokémon as young as I can remember but I did not know it was a anime but when I was around 6-7 I found Code Geass and Gundam on YouTube..... I then proceeded to watch every anime I thought looked cool. Then around 9 I stopped watching anime and I focused more on Manga and just gave up on anime actually, but then when I was around 10-11 I was scrolling though Netflix and found Naruto and then I got into anime all over again. So I have been watching anime at least since I was 7 and have only taken 1 or 2 years worth of not watching since then.

I guess it started from classics like DBZ, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Naruto. Around 3rd grade, I started to watch anime that usually isn't broadcasted on Tv.:D

The origins of what made you come to love Anime? For me, I remember turning on Cartoon Network as a kid and Sailor Moon was on, It was around episode 20 when I saw it, watching bad guys get beat down with Fire from Mars was epic, so I watched more and more and that's pretty much where it took off.. Been a fan ever since then, I was about 7 at the time XD

I am guessing this question has been asked here before but why not? :D

Hmm....

I think what got me into anime was, ultimately, curiosity. Back in 1995 we were at Blockbuster video and I was seeing a line-up of what was called "Anime", which were Japanese-origin cartoons, most of which were movies. "Akira" was the first on the shelves. Thing is, though, that I was 10 years old, and there was no way I was going to be able to watch any of this "anime", because virtually all the tapes were labeled as "Youth Restricted Viewing" or whatever Blockbuster's stickers were called.
Worth mentioning, though, is that there was some sense of familiarity when I was looking at the line-up. The animation and artistic style I saw reminded me of cartoons I used to watch when I was younger. They weren't anime, but they felt familiar.

It wouldn't be until 1998 when I would be more formally introduced to anime....in the form of Pokémon. Then came 1999, where I would be more exposed to Japanese anime, being quite appreciative of Dragon Ball Z. March of 2000 came, which would be my formal introduction to the infamous mecha genre, in the form of Gundam Wing. The middle of 2000 saw my introduction to a name I recognized years back, but I never suspected that it would be placed available for all to view....Tenchi Muyo!.
As years passed, I was watching more anime; 2001 provided Cowboy Bebop. 2002-2004 would reaffirm my liking and appreciation of Japanese anime, including those shows that were also on Adult Swim, such as InuYasha, Kikaider, Blue Gender, and I vividly recall Wolf's Rain in 2004, especially the final episode.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I got to see Akira on New Year's Day 2003. It was a recent English dub, and was borrowed by my brother's friend. As far as I'm concerned, one can't be a true anime fan until they have seen Akira....but, don't let my words dictate how you go about things, because it's just my opinion.

And so, up to now, I've seen a lot of anime....though I have stayed away from Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. Neither of those series have really interested me, but I see the three as "the big three" in concern to the topic of "mainstream anime". These days, Attack on Titan could be fit in with those three, thus making a "big four", because at this rate, Attack on Titan upholds much ubiquity in Japan, and it's a favorite of cosplayers. However, I really like Attack on Titan, so I'm willing to place exceptionalism on it.

This year, I have completed WataMote, Squid Girl, Kill La Kill, and am working on HenNeko. I'm halfway through it, actually; maybe I should be sure to wrap up the series sometime before January 1st, just to insure my status of "Oh look; I completed four anime series this year."

I guess the reason was that when i was little i saw this anime called: Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. (I was at the age of 5 - 7 i think?)

Ever after that when i saw that anime i've always tried to search something similar to it and while searching i always ended up watching the titles i found all over the internet and grew to love every second of anime.

It also hooked me because anime served as an escape route for me from this world cause when i was child my life was not such a happy one sadly but anime helped me to avoid any sort of depression.

I love Anime so much that i could not live without it! I get more feels from the anime then from anything else! It is a world of its own! ^v^

Ehhh, Toonami. When I turned on the TV when I was a lad and started watching DBZ that was it. I've liked anime ever since I was like 7 or 8 probably.

Sailor Moon. More importantly, deeper stories and character development that was rare for animated TV shows during the 90s. (Gargoyles and Batman being part of the few American produced ones)
