Anime affects everyone differently. Some people love it and take it to heart and is an important part of their life. Others may watch it casually. And some may only watch it every once in a while and may not take it as seriously as others.

For me anime is a huge part of my life and I take it very seriously and to heart. I feel there are so many good life lessons in anime that regular TV shows don't have. I feel anime has way of bringing emotions out and making you feel certain ways that nothing else on TV has. Whether it be the voice actors vs having love actors or the music or maybe when it comes to anime they have more passion for it and put more work into it because it is art. I don't know, but I do know it has much more meaning than anything else. I realize I may take it too far and take anime too seriously, but it makes me happy and everyone takes anime differently. I get very emotional and pulled in by anime. I feel as though I get personally attached to each character and to the show as a whole and I love it! This is what anime is to me. To me anime a huge and very important part of my life.

So does anime have similar affects on you and how seriously do you take it? I'm very curious to see how others take it! :)

It's a form of entertainment for me, I like to watch stories unfold and reach conclusion. Sometimes I view it very objectively as artistic reference; like taking note of how shadows are used in different series, or the different kind of iris' artists will use- but it's still entertainment at the end of the day. However; that's not to say a good story can't leave you with more to think about than the arc that took place.

I like that it's not real to me -- I want to absorb myself into the story lines and the characters and not having to think about who they are as a person, etc. is an amazing feeling (if that makes any sense). For me, the characters in an anime are "it,"what we see is who they are.

(Reading the above back, I probably sound like I've been burned by people in the past teheehee)

Anime makes me feel super happy, and with all of the merchandise in my room it doesn't have to stop at a screen -- coooonstant happiness. I'm looking at an SAO wall scroll right now and it reminds me how much fun I had watching it. That kind of happy

If I had to pick, i'd say i'm more on the side that takes it seriously. However, it's not really "anime" itself that I take seriously, but rather the themes and morals of the shows. They seem to resonate with me extremely well (especially more recently).

But i've always been a person who is easily enchanted by stories, and anime is a great medium for the telling of stories both fantastical and mundane. I think some people underestimate the power of storytelling, and by extension, the power that anime can have. Not just anime, but all forms of storytelling. Anime just happens to resonate with me more than the other mediums, and I think that's why I find it so meaningful.

But it really depends. Some shows are just pure entertainment and some shows are like fables that teach lessons you can live by, and most shows are a combination of the two. At least, that's what anime is to me personally .

at first I guess it was my way to escape realism and now it's my life style to sum it up. However, of course anime is still used to escape reality in general.

Its really cool that you look at it in an artistic way like that. Do you draw or anything? Would love to see some pictures if you have some on here. I love the different art styles animes have. I think it being art is also what contributes to it meaning so much to me.

Love this response! I love getting attached to the characters sometimes it feels as though you really know them especially when you see a lot of development and change in the character! And having the merchandise is amazing i am wanting to get some wall scrolls. Ive been stocking up on my favorite blu rays here recently!

Thank you! And i figured i wasnt and am glad im not because i feel like sometimes i cant take it too seriously but thats what makes me happy and how i enjoy anime :P

Very well said! And i agree with you 100% and can relate to this so much!

It definitely is and does turn into a life style rather quickly :P

Well I love anime and the story that they are able to tell due to having much fewer limitations than live action stuff, also my friends hate that I watch it and that is just icing on a fantastic cake

My love for anime runs deep I've been watching since I was a child it's just something I've always been into, it makes me feel good and it's a nice escape from reality. I love that there are so many different genres of anime as well so it's always a little bit different:)
