This reminds me of another question I once heard. "London is in England, right?"

I'm usually pretty good at knowing geographical locations and I do know New Mexico is in the USA but, some days I just forget that Vermont exists and is a state.

The New Mexico magazine used to have a page in it called "One of our states is missing." that listed a LOT of occurrences where people thought New Mexico was a foreign country

Reminds me of a question too. "I'm from the Netherlands" "Oh! Maybe I'll see you in Copenhagen?"

Here's something. Here in Los Angeles, I discovered that pretty much an entire generation of high school aged kids don't know what the "Industrial Revolution" is, nor do they know how it factored in U.S. history. They probably don't know what the Louisiana Purchase is all about, either.

That's ok. We all forget Vermont exists. It's one of the states where nothing ever happens.

First of all, this question mainly pertains to people of the United States. I don't mean to single out anyone, but I know that many people from another country may not know and I don't expect them to know. BUT if you did, kudos to you!

Now I know this question may seem silly to some, but in all seriousness did you know? I don't know how many times I've been told, "Oh I never heard of that country." This is coming from people that were born and raised in the USA themselves! Either they didn't pay attention in history class or honestly had no clue. Who knows haha.

So yeah that's it. If you decide to reply to this post can you please answer honestly?

kind of reminds of how people think alaska is next to f*cking hawaii

To answer the question, yes. As a huge history nerd sitting through any history class in high school and hearing people not know basic things like when WW2 ended or (like in the OP) what states make up the US was torture
Orz <- this was me
Thank goodness I had teachers who wanted the class to have total knowledge of the states, their locations, and their capitals.

the ignorance of people is kinda scary. yes I knew new mexico was a state. how did those people get through grade school still not knowing that much. I have met a few people like this and it astounds me. did their teachers just give up on them or something?
