I agree as technology progresses I think things will get very interesting to say the least. I kinda feel like people are so closed minded or think the minute you bring up other intelligent life forms outside of Earth then you have committed the greatest sin. People dont consider the possibilities in the world.

The universe being basically infinite leads one to believe there basically have to be at least one other intelligent life-form out there. This link is the planet in the Goldilocks zone (the distance a planet has to be from the star it is orbiting in order to sustain life) that NASA has discovered. With this close enough for us to discover it, there are probably plenty of other planets like it in our galaxy alone. So yeah, there are probably plenty of other life forms.

With the supernatural, however, everyone is going to have their own opinion, no matter what was proved right or wrong. I personally do not believe because I have not seen it. Like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. People will always believe or disbelieve.

I just don't care.

Maybe there are aliens, maybe there aren't. Who knows?

I second that thought, lets hope they don't have fangs near their genitalia.

I would like to cite the Fermi Paradox here. If there are other life forms within space: "Where is everybody?"
I personally believe that something exists in another galaxy or something, but right now they probably cannot reach us and we cannot reach them.

I'm new to this whole posting thing btw so hello everybody

i do believe that that other life forms exist but since matter can't travel even at light speed, we won't meet. not unless the planet is destroyed and the residents move out to settle on another planet.
i don't think even meeting other life forms would be a good idea. just see how much we fight among each others. what will happen when we fight among planets? galaxies?

Since humans have not really explored space yet, it is definitely possible. I do believe that there are other life forms out there.

We live on one planet orbiting the goldilocks zone of one star; so just looking at probability considering how many stars exist in the universe it is very unlikely earth is the only planet with life on it. I would not bet against aliens existing..... whether the first ones we encounter will look like life on earth due to convergent evolution or completely different is up in the air. With our current level of technology we could never travel to other habitable planets in our lifetime unless they came to us first though anyway.

This has always interested me. I personally think there are or will be other intelligent lifeforms but coinciding with them within the time span of humans/our time on this Earth will be pretty impossible. It's taken 4 billion years to get here and a random anomaly to create multi celled organisms, then turbulent weather in North Africa to increase the brain capacity of Humans making us able to create and invent. Before all this sea 'plants' (Can't remember their true name, they're not exactly plants!) were the first producers of oxygen, but first, all the iron dissolved into the oceans combined with the oxygen to solidify as iron oxide, only then did oxygen get released into the atmosphere and then years and years before there was enough to sustain high level organisms...several ice ages, natural disasters etc... and here we are.

If a situation like this is replicated on another planet then yes, life can form, it may not be carbon based, it may not be intelligent but it might well be. We as humans have at most 1 billion years left before the planet becomes too hot as the sun ages. Will we be around that long? Will this industrialised civilisation last that long? Will we use our research in space exploration to move to another suitable planet? I think out of the countless planets there will be intelligent life but will that line up in time with our window, I doubt it. Then again SETI picked up that random signal years ago, so, maybe we will hear from others, it's not impossible.

I read somewhere that even if there are other sentient life forms, the universe is so vast that we'd probably never meet them and so old that they could have already come and gone.

Sure there's life out there. With the amounts of stars and other variables it is possible.

I however do not think we are ready for interstellar realitionships. We as race aren't ready. If we can't control our own planet and the societies on it how in hells third circle are we supposed to handle an alien relationship?

The reason for them to contact us would be to use our natural resources. And if they're smart they eradicate the human race before we damage or use any resources further.

Well, that's something that I will never know the answer to in my lifetime. If there are aliens, then they are quite far away from us and it would take a bazillion years, and maybe never if the solar system implodes by then, before our technology is good enough to even be able to search from the extreme corners of the universe to see if they are there. I just have a hunch that they do exist somewhere, but it will be a long, long time before anybody knows for sure how much truth there is to that.

I would love to meet an alien. I hope they can speak English.
