Do you have that cool Aunt/Uncle/Both who spoils you rotten and is totally awesome? Do you want to be one later in life?

I bring this up because my bro's girlfriend gave birth to my niece last night. I'm, officially, an uncle. Whoo!

Totally going to spoil her rotten. She'll come to be in the summer after her sixteenth birthday and ask me to buy her a tattoo and I'll be all like,

'Sure.'
i kind of have but they are all weird in their own way.have one uncle that took me to a friends of his and he got drunk along with his friend and the friend's wife and i watched the 3 of them almost have an orgy before me
i was 15-17 by then and the worst thing is that his friend drove back to my house drunk as hell and i was afraid to lose my life because he was recklessly driving while fondling his wife in front of us

the other uncle is more subdued but he loves to start up crap in the family like for example gossiping agaisnt each other's back and that type of stuff

I am an uncle and yeah I'm awesome at it.

Some of my aunts/uncles are serious and strict, the others are mad and insanely funny.

I personally can't wait to be an aunt (when the day comes) I'll spoil them rotten, I'll even make them favour me over their parents.

Also congratulations.

My Aunts and Uncles are normal-ish......I think.
Except I don't like one of my uncles. When I was little, he would break the heads off of my barbies. Then stick them back on.
I hope I can be a cool aunt but that probably won't happen for a while.

I have an excellent aunt and uncle, they dont spoil me rotten and never really took me out anywhere when i was younger like the movies or anything of course i was adopted and lived on the other side of the country for my child hood so that is partly why. but ever since i've known them they have been there for the little thing's, sending me congratulations cards when doing something in school i was working hard towards, calling me on birthdays to say hi. always being there to listen to me when i need it. and of course my uncle has always been there to let me know when i was either being a dumbass or treating others in a way that was out of character for me.

I have a sister who has a daughter, however i haven't spoken to her since she first got pregnant... so i guess im not really that cool uncle since i dont even know the kids name. it's been awhile now she would be about 7 by now.

My aunts and uncles are pretty normal and a few are a little more wacky.

My sister's baby is about 16 months old and I can't wait to show him my collection of Disney movies and then take him to Disney World when he's old enough

One of my dad's sisters died from cancer when I was twelve. I didn't even get to go to her funeral because of the tensions between my parents, since they were on the verge of what would eventually become a divorce.

My dad's other sister and her husband, my uncle, are pretty cool. Their "kid" is their dog (they couldn't conceive but would've been great parents which is why it's so sad.) sure, they enjoy their spirits and alcohol but they're fun. Very fun to be around and their dog is a big dork. He's an oversized lap puppy.

My mom has two sister that I like better than her, since my mom is after all, an abusive cretin, one is a cooking afficianado who is strictly anti junk food and other kinds of processing, but does serve some wonderful food, her husband, my uncle, is Muslim and from Morrocco, they're both very dedicated to their cooking hobby and great chefs to boot, in spite of the fact that I cant find a bag of chips in their house. My other aunt divorced her husband years ago, when my eldest cousin, her daughter, married, but she now has a boyfriend who is very much like an uncle compared to the latter. she's not nearly as cool as the cooking aunt, but she works in medical and is much less hi strung and OCD than my aunt. But the cooking aunt was able to actually discuss with me how my mother treated me for so many years and how it was unfair and her saying those things really tugged at my heartstrings. Nobody told me in the last few months before that - that I was not a bad person - besides the doctors and my father. I actually cried in public and like hugged her. I would take her as my mother over my actual mother, and she was actually a major help, that talk helped me transition from a submissive and self deprecating, angry girl, to a more mature and refined adult, after I moved out of my mom's house.

There's one I don't even call an aunt. That's step-father's sister. She had no children and sadly five miscarriages. She'd taken to lil sis and asked to adopt her when she was 10. Step-father refused and said leave her with her siblings. Orphanages there were overflowing with children needing homes yet she never looked there.

Step-father had a problem with his eyes and he was in serious denial. It was so bad that he'd miss when attempting to plug in electrical items in sockets. Eventually mother managed to talk him into gettin his eyes looked at. He had glaucoma. The damage done couldn't be fixed but daily eyedrops stops further damage retain what sight you have left. He also made arrangements for early retirement. He didn't want to travel with the family to the UK so he stayed put and the parents had a long distance relationship. He'd also began to neglect taking his eyedrops so he eyesight got worse. Mother also advised him to get into contact with the Blind institute for tips but he refused saying he was not blind and won't be walking around with any white stick. This neglect and denial led to total blindness. This aunt told my mother to abandon us in the UK and come to his side. I was still in secondary school and so was lil sis and bro. Mother hadn't found a house to buy here as yet plus she was saving and we were renting. We didn't know much about this country to survive. Even if I'd got a part-time job it'd barely pay for a room for just myself far yet take over paying the rent for the 3 bedroom home that we were in. This woman's idea would have seen us out on the streets on our own aged 15, 16 and 17. Step-father had the family home to himself, a pension coming in and mother was paying the house maintenance costs. That put an end to any of us calling her aunty and thankfully mother ignored her.

From what I've been told, mine passed away a few years ago. I didn't meet them because they were in another country from us and it's just too long a flight.

I have an aunt I talk to and see now and then, and an uncle I've seen maybe three times in my life.

I am an uncle as well.. Which is.. difficult, since I'm not particularly fond of children. God forbid anything happen to the parents, because per their will I'd get custody.

All my aunts and uncles are cunts and assholes.

But my brother has a 6 month old baby boy and I'm completely in love with this baby, I already spoil him rotten and call him my favorite nephew (he really is!). I want to be the cool aunt for him, give him everything he wants, take care of him, take him out everywhere....I want to see him smile every time he is with me. <3
