Some rap is okay, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I'm not too fanatical about it, though; playing GTAV is a good example, and I'm willing to compromise. Some of it's amusing to listen to, too.

I hate pretty much most rap. And your name is a good reason why. Itemizing women, talking about sex, money and drugs for most of the songs. If it actually talked about logical things with good lyrics I could like rap but I am not a big fan of the genre to find the rap that does this. I know it exists and I know it isn't popular.

You don't understand the concept of rap if that's the case.
Nowadays, yes, you're correct. The average generic rapper will talk about money, drugs and women in a nihilistic manner. Their songs have no meaning behind them. They're fake.

Lets go back in time 20-35 years. It was that period in time when rap was identifying the problems of society, and the lives of the people living in ghettos. It was lyrical poetry, not the crap you hear on the radio nowadays. The reason why Eminem was so successful was because he spoke about his life in a humorous, and lyrically advanced way. It just so happened he did drugs and used them to formulate differing rhymes.

Edit: On the contrary, I have a huge range of music I listen to. Going from classical orchestra to heavy metal. I sometimes listen to rap, though mainly older artists.

I'm pretty sure everyone here loves anime. But I want to ask who loves rap music? Like I think its a great trait about myself since I love both cultures. Right now im jamming to ASAP Rocky but love oldies and some new ones. Who else loves rap?

I'm interested in it. I want to start rapping too!

Can you introduce me some really good rappers apart from Eminem and B.o.B?

If you want to get a good feel of 'real rap' then follow these links.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caTOCE4Nvx4 [Big L, Jay Z 95' Freestyle]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJ4Z4SYO9-k [Eminem, Mixtape] -This will be good if you want to learn how to rap, Eminem's old work was insane!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8L8F8xzQQA [Nas, Illmatic]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWMjRMJ0dTI [Big L, 'Put it on']

You should like the above.
Anyway artists who I would recommend are: Slim Shady, -Big L, -Snoop Dogg, -Nas, -Tupac.
There are plenty other artists, though these are pretty fundamental.

Isn't it funny how I don't even like rap that much.

Not to step on anyone's toes here......but Nas, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Big L, and Eminem are extremely poor gateway artists for rap-haters to get into.
You need to understand that they don't care about or even remotely respect the street life in any way, shape, or form. They don't care about the ills or struggles of the ghetto or the lifestyles of the impoverished especially since it probably doesn't relate to them.

But that's fine, cause there's always:
Sadistik
Sage Francis
Atmosphere

Why is it that whenever people mention Ol' skool hip hop they always seem to omit acts like:

A Tribe Called Quest
De La Soul
Public Enemy
Run DMC
Grand Master Flash
DJ Kool
Heavy D.
The Beastie Boys
Pete Rock & CL Smooth
Busta Rhymes
The Fat Boys
Outkast
MC Lyte
J Dilla
Onyx
PM Dawn
Naughty By Nature
Chubb Rock
Das EFX
LL Cool J
Salt-N-Pepa
Del the Funky Homosapien
Queen Latifah
The Roots
The Pharcyde

I mean, it's not necessary to list every single artist in that list, but I would think at least one of these artist would pop up on a list of Ol' Skool sometimes.

Anyway while I love hip hop breaks ('93 til infinity's instrumental is one of my favorite pieces of all time) and the clever, creative lyrics that was the main draw of Ol' Skool, as with a lot of other music, it's the profanity that puts a damper on things for me. I mostly listen to instrumentals, and a few underground and/or Ol' Skool or apparently prehistoric songs that don't have cussing. I don't know anything by any modern mainstream acts save for that Airplanes song by B.O.B. sans Eminem and Tinie Tempah's Written In The Stars.

Oh, I see. They're just not labeled. That's cool. I'm glad you didn't let them go overlooked. You wouldn't even believe how many times in the past couple of months I've come across a discussion of Ol' Skool that never mentioned any one of these artists. It's been really weird.

Right now my top 5 favorites are

Big K.R.I.T
Black Hippy / TDE as a whole unit (Kendrick, Q, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul)
Killer Mike
Curren$y
Sir Michael Rocks

And for the record, Nas is the GOAT and the one true god MC.

And I find J. Cole to be wack as hell. The one person I really can't listen to.

I like rap, but it very much depends on the style and lyrics.
