Post Reply What Anime Series would you buy on DVD/Blu Ray?

free! eternal summer is my all time fav at the moment, so i'm willing to throw away some cash to indulge in my otakuness.

I love everything about this anime. The animation is amazing, I love that the characters wear different clothes and don't look the same (you know how in some animes, the girls look exactly like the boys characters just with longer hair? lolol it's so stupid). I feel like in Free!, the animators aren't lazy and took the time to design the characters to look different from one another.

The voice acting is amazing. The writing is extraordinary and makes me laugh.

The Music is also so heartfelt and touching. I got the OST too... actually I got everything of Free!; from pencil case to alarm clock.

Obsessed is an understatement.

Ehhhhh, I basically try to get all of my favorites as long it's affordable (sorry, Aniplex, can't keep up with your price gouging)

I also tend to blind buy if it's at a very good price.

Hunter X Hunter or Parasite when its over. BTW, even though I have a 1080p option on crunchy roll, I usually use SD mode. It doesn't take as long to load and freezes less.

I usually only buy affordable English dubs of shows that my whole family (2 parents, 5 kids) can enjoy. With a family this size, I can't afford to spend much on anime. So I have to focus on the stuff that gives us all the best value. Gurren Lagann is my all time favorite, but I haven't bought it because it's just too expensive for us. I feel no duty to support you if you're going to gouge me like that. There's no need for that sort of thing these days.

We have all of InuYasha because it was the first anime my husband and I got into and my oldest daughter has been watching it since she was a toddler.

We have both seasons of Ah! My Goddess because we all love it, my oldest son used to make us all pretend to be the characters. I was always Belldandy and both he and Daddy were always Keichi.

We have Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok cause my oldest loves mythological mystery.

We also have Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. Trigun was on sale at the time so it wasn't much of a risk. I took a chance with Cowboy Bebop because my husband and I naturally loved it and fortunately my oldest loved it too. She hasn't watched Trigun yet, but when she does I'm sure she'll love it.

Naturally we have every single Miyazaki film and a few other Ghibli titles.

My kids have all become big NAruto fans (especially my oldest) but I doubt we'll ever buy that on dvd because there's just too much of it. Not unless we got rich somehow. Same for shows like Fairy Tail and Bleach.

I'll probably get FMA: Brotherhood eventually (assuming I can get it relatively affordably) but I'm not sure my oldest, at 11, is ready for it. It's pretty dark in places.

I'll probably buy Akatsuki no Yona too, if it ever comes out on dvd and is affordable if only because I haven't fallen in love with a story and characters this hard in a while.

I often look for deal on anime at Amazon and snatch up affordable titles that I think the whole family will enjoy.

Don't watch it unless you can handle cringe humor, aka humor at the expense of a sympathizeable target. It's really cringe worthy, not to mention the plot line gets a bit stale by series' end, but I'd still recommend it with caution. It's not for the faint of heart.

I have Cowboy Bebop on DVD and I'm vacillating on buying the Blu Ray and giving the DVD to a family member or the library.

Despite costing almost $322.76 (at YesAsia.com), I would seriously consider buying the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Box Set Blu-ray, if it had English subtitles.

The good news for my budget (but bad news for my viewing enjoyment) is that it doesn't.

Even at that price, it is cheaper than buying the Japanese DVD singles of the same series (and only about twice that of the Taiwan DVD singles, of which I currently have 2 of the 9).

When I come into some extra cash I'll track down Now and Then Here and There on DVD. Would like to get a English release of HxH.

Aw, man, wish I'd known that before I last moved, I gave away my copy of Now and Then (along with about 50 other anime DVDs). I'm down to about 400 in my collection, I'd guess...

Haven't quite decided on my next purchase, but it'll probably be something I've watched on Hulu (to avoid the ads for repeat viewings). Accel World is a possibility for that reason, but Sacred Seven is also high on my list since CR lost the streaming rights.

I only purchase DVDs/Blu-rays if a). I really like the anime (at least a 9/10 for me), b). I can't watch it elsewhere, and/or c). I'd like to make AMVs for it. I've already purchased both seasons of Fate/Zero on DVD despite the (very) high price, and I'm almost finished buying Hellsing Ultimate. I'd like to buy Kara no Kyoukai, but unfortunately it's only on ebay and stuff like that for over $400, so I can't really do that. I'm also thinking of buying Cowboy Bebop and some movies, as well.
