What are thoughts on this? I am a bit confused because you called the readers girls, then women. But overall I think it's nice idea even though it has flaws. There are many many many types of geeks. Anime geeks, gamer geeks, Star Trek/Star Wars/Marvel/Comic book geeks, I could go on. It would be hard to fit all that in.

What kinds of content would you (including men) like to read about? I personally like everything you said minus the latest fashion and trends. i don't really care, i wear what i like in style or out. However, if your fashion section featured anime clothing /accessory merch, I would be sold. I would also be interested in seeing a tips column. It would have stuff like tips on cosplaying, tips on how to cope with spoilers, tips on how to not get mad while playing video games and throwing your control at a window, ect..

What would you like to not be included in this magazine? I don't really know how people above me started getting at feminism. But if that's somehow linked to this magazine I wouldn't like it. And other touchy stuff like politics and religion.

Who do you think would be interested in this? Women and girls ages 13-late 20's.

Who would you like to see included in the magazine? Anime voice actors!

I'm a 13 year old girl if that helps.

Thank you for your input!
I switch between women and girls because they can be used interchangeably, most women used to be girls and most girls will be women.
The inclusion of most areas of geek culture will be the focus, not every area will be included in every issue because that won't be feasible or relevant, but that doesn't meant they won't be included at all.
Thank you for the idea of a tips column!
The inclusion of feminism is very important to the magazine, since geek girls come in many different shapes, backgrounds, colours and religions and we want to make sure that everyone feels included and safe. The message behind the magazine is that every girl has a place in the community and deserves to be heard and seen. We feel very strong about this.
Thank you for replying it was a big help!

I think what DrkAngelB means by feminism is "women writing stuff for women in a positive way," not "we're going to have long articles about how the patriarchal system sucks."

I like this idea. I think the trick will be to make the material exclusive. There's already quite a lot of stuff online for geeky ladies, so what is there to offer that I can't already find with Google?

I'd like to see interviews with female creators from around the world. Both those who are fellow fans (like cosplayers and prop builders) as well as those who make original content, like writers and animators, etc.

Like others have said, I don't care too much about fashion, unless it's directly geeky. Covert cosplay, geek clothing, steampunk, or even lolita. Have big, nice pictures!

Maybe each issue could have a focus, rather than every issue trying to have a little bit of everything? Like, one for anime, another for American comics, another for sci-fi, another for retro gaming, etc. I used to subscribe to a historical magazine where every issue focused on just one topic, and most of the articles were about that topic (there'd be some smaller ones on other topics too). I liked that way of doing it. It also made it easier to buy back issues, because you could pick ones that were about subjects you like.

What I don't want to see... I don't want it to be mostly a catalog of clothing being released. It should have nice design and good proofreading. And don't make the covers too sexy - I wouldn't feel comfortable buying that

What are thoughts on this? It's a decent enough idea.
What kinds of content would you (including men) like to read about? Certain articles about works aimed at women, maybe? Sort of like reviews or stuff about releases for series that are aimed at women or are popular with women. Of course articles about cute/typically nerdy fashion choices would be nice to see too. If there were interviews of voice actors, or actors, or animators or something that'd be pretty neat to see. Stuff about women in the industry would be good too.
What would you like to not be included in this magazine? Things that are popular with men, or anything that would be like 'how to get a guy's attention', or anything about losing/gaining weight. Gossip about other people would obviously be a down side. Religion and politics are best kept out, but mostly because they have no business mixing with a fun hobby. Try to steer clear of too serious a thing. Save that for political magazines.
Who do you think would be interested in this? Women, young girls, and me. Lol.
Who would you like to see included in the magazine? Cosplayers, voice actors, maybe even popular artists.

Anyway, I'd especially love the fashionable aspect of the magazine. I'm a closeted trans man in real life, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy women's clothing on myself. So as long as the magazine had cute outfits I'd totally be all over it for some fashion ideas.

I don't like the idea of singling out to women only. Seems like you're glorifying them.

Ah! Yes thank you! I thought I explained what I meant by feminism but I guess it was confusing people but thats what I mean exactly! Women writing for women positively!
The plan for right now is to make the content more consolidated, so instead of going through pages and pages of Google images, the artists and creators and their content would be together in the context that the artists want. So instead of having images out in the vastness of google where it is often unsourced and altered the art would be connected to the artists face.
That is exactly the kind of fashion that we hope to include! J-fashion, steampunk, diesel punk, geeky accessories, ect... The fashion will be directly connected to the geek lifestyle.
We are going to develop more with the structure of each issue, thank you for your ideas, they were so entirely helpful!

That's what I was thinking.

It sounds like fun and good idea, I like it, it's just that I'm against of feminism (I wasn't at first, till tublr and youtube and the internet and "rape culture")

If it's for more anime based and leans to have cosplay and whatnot, I'd read it, unless it gets too political, ew politics.

The top magazines catering to women have adds on every second page.
Try hedging your bets by writing articles around products made by sponsors.

The "feminism" *gag* of modern society is a one sided joke. I don't support it.

I'll read/steal them in the doctor's office, so no worries about money going to anyone.

How so? Is there a tumblr that does this exact same thing? Can you link me to it? Or are you just saying Tumblr is a place for geek girls?

Tumblr is a place for geek girls (and guys too...but the super minority)...But every single thing he mentioned in his first post (and a lot of things people mentioned in their posts) can all be easily found on tumblr through tags, users, blogs dedicated to those things...

Like I said, this thread screams tumblr.

The goal is not profits, thats why the magazine will be launched online and not as a paper magazine. Thank you for all of your attention but if you are going to continue to be a negative detractor we would appreciate if you would no longer contribute. What you have already said was more than enough.

Yes, that is true, but the purpose of the magazine (as stated above) is an organized, stylistic approach to having artists, creators and innovators control their work and reach the masses. There is no searching through tags, no searching to users, or blogs, since the information is already curated.
Giving the platform to the community and not individuals.
