It's true that a narcissist does not realise that they are narcissistic unless they are the 'self-aware narcissist'. That is someone who knows that they are narcissist and some of them go into therapy to try to change themselves.

I remember watching this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbVeYZd64Zg

The guy in the video is an example of a self-aware narcissist. Hilarious guy.

Not much at all.
I'm BPD and fit the criteria for bpd, but im no narcissist. Some days I have a heightened sense of self importance, I feel as if I am"the shit" but the next few hours pass and I began to feel like I am literally shit.

I've 'envied' people before, but even then it's by no means frequent or extreme.

I have 5 of these.
I'm not actually a narcissist, but as per personality disorders, a recent visit to a neuropsychologist found that I fit the criteria for schizoid personality disorder. Was told to get a second opinion just in case, but my mother told me it's a "bad label" as we left the office so I guess that won't happen. People are so fussy. As if it's not just words to sum up symptoms you already exhibit. It's not like a disorder goes away just because you don't have it listed in your file.

(Uh, if you check the dates, you don't actually have to respond--

It was just the Fakey Guy letting a Porn Spambot loose on us, and burping up every old thread from Jan. and April. EVEN the Mods felt necessary to take action.
Of course, with Ol' Fakie, we'll never know whether it was intentional or accidental, but couldn't happen to a more deserving dog.)

Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

Hazy. I had a point in time where I'd brag about my entrance into a top university, until I realized that universities were nothing special.

Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

Definitely. All my fantasies revolve around myself being a hero, not that I am one.

Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or
high-status people (or institutions)

I believe I'm adequately unique and special. I don't care for social status.

Requires excessive admiration

Not at all.

Has a very strong sense of entitlement, e.g., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

Hazy.

Is exploitative of others, e.g., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends

I don't take advantage of others, at least consciously no.

Lacks empathy, e.g., is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others

I definitely lack empathy.

Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her

Hazy.

Regularly shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

I try not to.
